It's been a ruff two days, first Zoe and now Tehya have earned their wings. I know it goes without saying that all of us here feel the loss of our Tripawd heroes deeply, each time it happens. Tonight I just wanted to thank all of you for being here to welcome new members and share your support, even with heavy hearts during sad times like this. I know it means so much to people who are just now joining and are unaware of our losses.

Thank you Tripawd pawrents, you're so pawesome. Many hugs to you all, and especially Zoe and Tehya's peeps.

I will never forget how the bottom of my world fell when I heard Emily had cancer.  I had never known a dog with cancer, didn't really know they got cancer  (Oh bliss, I wish I could still say that.) My vet was great but she didn't have a dog facing amputation and chemo.  Not knowing where to turn I googled dogs with cancer and osteosarcoma.  One of the sites I found was this one.  Real people that had gone through the same thing I was and survived.  They told stories of their amazing dogs living life not dying of cancer.  When I posted that I was so scared I couldn't breathe you and the other people on this site were there for me.  I hope that in some small way I can be that person to someone else.  So to make a long story short, thank you for being there for me.

Debra

Debra & Emily, a five year old doberman mix, who was diagnosed with an osteosaecoma. She had a right rear leg amputation on May 19, 2009. On November 10, 2009 she earned her wings and regained her fourth leg.

I always feel bad when someone writes, "not a tripawd but a friend" or "not cancer but accident tripawd" because it seems to me they are afraid to post non-cancer posts.  Really, isn't our "club" about the love of dogs first and foremost?

I felt welcomed too even though I was hesitate to post since I didn't go through a cancer amputation.   I only posted because I could talk about cancer.  I didn't know if Comet qualified as a tripawd since she still had a leg!  (maybe she doesn't qualify, but try to get rid of me now, admin!Little Devil)

Her Retired AvatarComet - 1999 to 2011

She departed us unexpectedly  January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.

She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.

I remember the day I took Tasha to the vet for a limp thinking I was going to get a magic pill for her and she would be fine. When the Dr. said I want to do an x ray to rule out cancer I was shocked, how native I was, I had never even heard of a dog with cancer. When a few minutes later he came back in and said  i am sorry was an unbelievable heartache.  Long story short for the next 3 months her diagnoses changed from cancer to valley fever back and forth. When it finally was for sure cancer and amputation so many doubts came up wondering if we were doing the right thing for her. I was so scared and then I found Tripawds, you all have been my salvation, have given me hope and strength when I didn't think I had any left, so THANK YOU TRIPAWDS, and everyone for everything. I hope as new people facing the challengers we were facing not all so many months ago all the words of encouragement, support and even sadness will help make their journey and decisions a little easier.

I agree with what everyone's been saying. This site has been the saving grace for me as we travel this road. Thank you for creating it, admin! And yes - our hearts are heavy this week, but people still need our encouragement. Thanks for the gentle reminder.
Susan

And Comet - you can't get kicked off now that we have a band! Three legs or four legs - we love you! Accident or cancer or birth defect - we're all here for the same reason - we love our dogs.

Wow, thank you all for your heartwarming comments! It means a lot to us knowing all our efforts are appreciated. But it is members like you who make this site the supportive community it has become. If you feel you must give praise for all Jerry's efforts, however, please feel free to comment on our Tripawds Testimonials topic. Winker

Thank you all for your continued support.

If it weren't for this site, I don't think my sanity would still be here.  When I joined, the vets were thinking OC, turned out to be LeggCalves Perthes disease, but Chuy was already a Tripawd and to have surgery on another leg was scaring me to my wits end.  Everyone here took us into their hearts and helped both of us get thru it.  Chuy may not be a cancer dog, but he's all dog with a great personality.  Thank you Jim, Rene and everyone for being there for us.

Chuy, showing everyone that Tripawds do everything 3 times better than regular dogs!

Never in my life have I known so many people that I hold close in my heart and always will, that I will never meet!  At this point in time I am no longer a Tripawd mommy, but being here to share with others is my way of honoring Paris.

The night I found Tripawds, I was frantically looking for answers, Paris had been crying out day & night, she was 10 days post op............I posted my concerns and questions and voila.........instant answers and friends, even advice from a vet!!!  I feel gratitude when I think of the legacy that Jerry generated.

I am in awe of the care and dedication that Rene and Jim give to this place and to all of us.

With love and thanks, Ginny

Grateful for every moment we had with Paris…..no regrets!

Honoring her life by opening our hearts & home to Addy!

I have participated in many forums and newsgroups and this is the only one that NEVER has folks squabbling with each other.  It is just awesome to come her and feel the serenity.  Yes, we all feel the pain when we lose a warrior, and sometimes I can't read for the tears rolling down my cheeks, but I know this is a place of peace, love, respect, and caring.  I just doesn't get any better than that.

I can only echo what others have already said here - this truly is an amazing site. Every story here, of every pawrent and every tripawd, has given me comfort, inspiration, laughter, and yes, tears.

The generosity of heart and spirit constantly moves me.

Thank you to those who created and continue to administer this site. And thank you to those who come here to share.

My sister found this website for me when Tehya was first diagnosed with cancer and we were considering having her leg amputated or not. I can only tell you that I have found tremendous strength from this tripawd family. Today as we are struggling with the grief of losing our precious Tehya yesterday we are still getting words of encouragement on how we were the best pawrents to her for the 10 yrs that we had her. I wish that down the road this website would be no more as there would have been a cure for the cancer in our wonderful friends in the meantime I will hope that I can continue to be as much of a support to others as you all have been to me.

Thank you for forming this site from the bottom of my heart.
