Well, we are all officially home from our trip - us to New Orleans, dogs to the kennel.  Some of you know I was stressed about leaving Trouble at her age on the concrete floor for four days.  Dr F gave permission for her to have a nice rug to lay on, and I packaged her food in individual servings for them.  Over all, I can't complain.  I had them give her a low dose of Rimadyl on Saturday and Monday in hopes of not having her unable to move by the time I got her home.  That along with double doses of Missing Link while she was there must have done the trick.  She was very energetic until after her dinner last evening, then she crashed.  Didn't move again until I fed her breakfast just a few minutes ago.

They almost had to call 911 for me when I picked the dogs up.  I always take Trouble out to the car first because she won't bolt out the open door when I load Duke.  Normal practice ever since her surgery has been for me to help her into and out of the vehicle.  Well, she decided she could load herself yesterday.  As I was putting her rug down and getting my hands empty to help her, she just jumped on in.  Not at all graceful, I might add, but she made it!  I'm sure she is sore from it this morning, not moving nearly as smoothly as she was yesterday!

It was nice to have a break, but I'm really glad to have the doggies back home.

Oh, and Duke has started Trouble's diet.  He was 72.3 lbs.  Way too big!  Wish us luck.

And now I'm off to work - YUK!

Glad you had a good trip and all was well with Trouble at the kennel!  Maggie did the same thing this wknd...jumped up into the Jeep!!!!  OMG, I was in awe and told her, yup, you'll be paying for that later!  Same as Trouble...tired from her antics big-blink

I have some Missing Link coming for Maggie...you find that really helps Trouble, huh?

I like the Missing Link really well, but wasn't really sure it was making a big difference, I just wanted it for the additional vitamins/minerals since I'm feeding home cooked.  I accidentally doubled it while she was kenneled.  Should have given it once a day, and when I prepared her meal packs wasn't thinking and added it to each.  I think that accounted for some of the extra energy, on top of the minimal dose of Rimadyl those two days.

Up until I kenneled her, she had been off the Rimadyl since I began giving the Missing Link, so I know it is helping some.  I'm going to experiment a bit with the dosage and see how she responds.  I'll let you know what I find.

Welcome home and I agree... work yuck!

I'll be interested to hear how missing link works too- quad pug Tani has arthritis in her back and has had trouble with inflammatory bowel disease, although she is doing fine right now.

Which Missing Link supplement does Trouble get? We gave Jerry the Standard canine formula to supplement his raw diet, but there is also Missing Link Plus with glucosamine for joint support...

I am using the Wellness Blend Plus – it is vegetarian (allergies, ya know) and has the non shellfish glucosamine.  I am still giving her the glucosamine HA as well.

Heeey, welcome back Shanna, glad everything went well. I just went to daycare for the first time and my Mom was stressed about that, but I did GREAT! And you know what? When I left I was full of energy too, just like Trouble! Hmmm, maybe they're slipping us puppy uppers? 😉

Tell Duke and Trouble I said hello, I can't wait to see them again!

Welcome home!!  We're glad all went well with Trouble at the kennel.  We need to board Holly in October and I am also a bit anxious about it, so thanks for posting that all went well!

Holly joined the world of tripawds on 12/29/2009. She has a big little sister, Zuzu, who idolizes Holly and tries to make all of her toys into tripawds in Holly's honor. And she's enjoying life one hop at a time!

I have had to kennel Trouble a couple of times since her surgery, but not for as long, and never was too concerned until this time.  With all we have invested in them (money & emotions) it is hard to let go.  I had a consult with Dr F about her bloodwork before they brought her out.  I could hear one of the techs give her kisses behind the closed door and tell her goodbye.  How could I not believe she gets the best care ever?  And I bet Holly does too!

Welcome back!  3 legs  or not, Trouble wasn't spending one more second at the kennel!   I'm guessing here, but  I would say her visit wasn't as nice as yours.

Prettypants went to Hawaii last week.  Yeah, I know  - it sucks!  Take note she isn't telling us about paradise!

It isn't that her trip wasn't as good as ours, I'm sure it was more along the lines of No one will get up and take me out at 2AM because I'm a spoiled brat that won't go out before bed like normal dogs.  Or maybe it was No one will feed me at 4AM, don't they know that is what time we get ready for work?

...And Prettypants, this isn't the place to keep secrets!  You should have known better than to tell Comet if you didn't want us all to find out!

Well at least Trouble was safe and secure rather than "Joy Riding" down the side of a volcano crater! We were at Crater Lake when a car, with a dog inside, started to roll over the edge before tumbling over 1000 ft into Crater Lake. They really had to look hard to find the one spot on the road where there wasn't a stone wall. I am not sure that I believe their stories but clearly some one was not using a brain when they parked. For three accounts of this almost laughable if not tragic story of stupid parking: The Sothern Oregon Mail Tribune, OregonLive.Com, and Ashland Daily Tidings.

Hope that they will be able to extract the car before spring. The prediction was for extensive snow the morning we left.
