First - nothing bad has happened, you can brief a sigh of relief!

I want to take Tazzie's 3rd month anniversary to thank so many people here. Three months probably doesn't sound like much, either to the newbies or to the not-so-newbies who are celebrating one or two years (I can only imagine what that is like). but it is the first milestone I can acknowledge in our journey. Who knows where life will take us at four months or five. I know this has not been a good day for at least a few of your.

The people where I live have been very kind since Tazzie's diagnosis. When people see my half-naked dog, and what is a dog without fur, they inevitably say "what beautiful skin", which is the last thing I could have hoped for (it is kind of cool, like an Appaloosa horse). We have encountered no negative experiences, other than one woman (out of hundreds) commenting that 'it must have been the food' to cause the cancer. But a lot of the reason people here respond so well is that I already have the 'tripawd family' to share our experiences.

I don't have to be bothered with whether they get it or not. More than that, we have obtained amazing information to the extent that we now have enlisted another tripawd's oncologists (note that Maximutt has two board-certified oncologists, not just one!). My vet is learning from our experience with this disease by talking with Maximutt's oncologists. How amazing is that?!

You are all 'virtual' friends and we'll probably never meet. But it feels a bit more real than that. And I bet I'll meet a few of you. I just wish I met more of the pups before they passed.

Tika, Yoda, Hori, Boinks, Oslo, Cherry, Jack, Genie, okay Jerry and WRD, Polo, Romeo, Toto and many many others who have come before and since have offered so much. (Of course special thanks to tazziedog, who we can't include in the same sentence since she makes us look respectable when we ask our vets about things they would normally never consider like Artemisinin .) So on a day where I was feeling a bit sorry for myself and Tazzie (I'm not a morning person and have to rise early on Tues and Thurs and apparently can get a bit grumpy by this Thursday evening), Tazzie and I just want to say how much we appreciate you all!

Now, Tazzie says, cancer or no cancer it is time to do what a dog needs to do and head out for a hop and a sniff.

Congrats on making it 3 months!  I think that every month means so much, especially during those first months after you are healed up from surgery and then again as you make it through chemo.  At least Tazzie's next treatments can be given at home with just a few vet visits here and there for monitoring.

Congratulations on three months, Tazzie.  Three months is big because that is the amount of time any of us would probably had without amputation.  May you have many, many more.

Debra & Emily, a five year old doberman mix, who was diagnosed with an osteosaecoma. She had a right rear leg amputation on May 19, 2009. On November 10, 2009 she earned her wings and regained her fourth leg.

Hey my dearest virtual friend!!!! Hopppy, hoppppppppy Ampuversary!!!!

May many more good months be waiting for you here with your Mum!

Hope you get to the "good" dog park this weekend as a treat. Don't go swimming too much if it is too cold... although now that you have less fur, you can get toweled dry quicker.

lots of hugs

Cemil - wish we could meet to see how my Pyrenees lean compares with your Anatolian lean. They probably share a common leaning ancestor. I have to explain to everyone that this has nothing to do with his missing a leg. He leaned even harder before. I usually lean so hard that eventually I crumple to the ground, waiting for the human minions to shower me with their pets.

Hoppy Ampuversary!!! Each and every day we can share with our special companions is a day worthy of celebration but reaching a milestone as significant as 3 months is especially noteworthy.  We will be toasting and celebrating vicariously with you upon reaching this wonderful milestone.

May you have many more ampuversaries.
