Hello everyone!!!  It's been such A LONG TIME since I've posted, time really has gotten away from me.  My daughter got married a few weeks ago so we have had a pretty crazy 2018.  Anyway, it's calmer now and I wanted to let everyone know that Maddie is doing really well 🙂  We ended up going with a local holistic doctor's protocol which really helped my boxer, Hooch, who had lymphoma a few years ago.  Diet, supplements, etc and Maddie is going strong.  Despite a few hurdles over the past months, she continues to thrive.  Mostly her challenges have been related to her toes believe it or not - she cannot seem to get her stance right and she ends up getting cuts between her toes, she then compensates for the sore foot and the other foot gets blisters.  But these are minor and don't slow her down.  She's had a great summer - enjoyed her favorite activities of sunbathing and rolling in the grass.  All in all - we are approaching one year since her diagnosis and we are so happy with how she is doing - thanks in large part to all the wonderful people here who offered support, advice and kind words during her struggles.   I just wanted to let you all know that your help was appreciated and I hope that I can offer the same kind of support to those just starting the amputation journey.

I remember you guys!!  So happy to hear Maddie's doing so well!!  Maddie's amputation was close to the same time as Fallon's.  We went a more traditional route, but Fallon's also doing well.

I did not know you were from Delaware.  We love it there, and go twice a year with Fallon and Maggie to go to Dewey Beach.  I love how dog friendly it is there.  We've talked about moving there someday. Next trip for us is mid September--Girls Doin' Dewey!!

Fallon  8/28/06--9/6/18.  My Heart.

Fallon's left front leg was amputated due to osteosarcoma on 10/11/17.

Hi!  I've kept up with Fallon's blog and  I'm so glad she's doing well.  Yes we are in DE but not near the beaches - I live in Northern Delaware, closer to Philly than to the beaches.   But that doesn't mean we don't drive down when we can - it's less than 2 hours so we go pretty regularly in the summer and to the outlets in the winter.  Enjoy Dewey - that's the party beach!

Yeah, we love it at Dewey.  We take the girls to the beach through the day, then can walk from our hotel to numerous restaurants and sources of refreshing beverages in Dewey and Rehoboth.  We go for Spring Greyhounds in the spring, but we've started going in September rather than October (when Greyhounds Reach the Beach is) as chances are, it's warmer, more things are open, yet it's not too crowded, and Maggie loves to run with this Air Dog group that goes at that time.  Paul and I traditionally drive down again in May and October (therefore we should move, we've down that way 4x/year and it's a 7 hour drive) to OC, MD for the Cruisin' events.

Kissies to Maddie!!

WOW it is great to hear from you again! We always hope that no news is good news, what a fantastic pupdate!

I just love that she is able to have a ball during summer, getting out and showing the world how pawesome she is.

About her stance problems...have you considered getting her evaluated by a canine rehab therapist? The Tripawds Foundation may pay for your first rehab visit , and you are in a great area for care, so we hope you'll take advantage of it. How I wish we had gone to one with Jerry, who ended up living two amazing years but could have been helped by early rehab intervention.
