I was so excited when I came home today. My Zeus was waiting at the door for me almost bouncing (as much as he can with a bum shoulder)up and down, happy to see me.   He actually even tried to climb down the stairs to meet me.

tomorrow is his followup and X-ray to check lungs. All paws crossed

Update on Zeus. So far he seems to sailing through with flying colors. Only one nodule and limited chemo side effects. Other than his limp he seems to be back to his presurgery state. He is still learning to walk, and its taking longer this time for the muscles to strengthen as opposed to his acl surgery, but that is to be expected.

He had some peach fuzz growing back from his surgery but overall he still looks like Frankstein's creature's dog.  Taking out all of his staples has helped quite a bit in the appearance department. I suspect that his hair will never grow back completely, but that is a easy trade off to have more time with my boy.

blood tests today, then second round of chemo next week

Thanks for the update! Sounds all well within the "normal" range recovery wise 🙂

Zeus's fur will grow back! It varies from dog to dog as far as how long it takes. It's possible that it may be thinner in some spots than before, maybe, but I think it always grows back.

Glad the stitches are out! Good job Zeus!

Extra treats for thst sweet boy tonight! 🙂 🙂

Hugs!

Heee heee, I couldn't help but chuckle at the "Frankenstein's dog" comment! We thought our Jerry looked like a carved up turkey when he came home from surgery! But believe it or not the fur does grow back. It might be a little different as far as texture or color, but it happens eventually.

Here's to a GREAT update for Zeus, what a rock star!

Its been awhile since I have posted. My beloved pup lost his battle about week ago. I am struggling with all of the things I could have done differently to have had a little more time but ultimately I know that his time had come.

the depth that Zeus had touched my life is daunting and I am happy that I had the time that we did. No other soul has ever touched me like he did. The pain I feel at times without him is excruciating but I would not have given up a single moment with him.

people don't understand how intimately they ingrain themselves into our lives. Zeus will never be "just a dog"

I'm so very sorry that you've lost Zeus.  Of course he'll never be "just a dog!"  He was your dog, and he was special.  This journey brings us so much closer to our babies.  Zeus knows that you loved him, and I'm sure that he loved you.  I'm sorry that your journey was so short.  crying

I am so very sorry for your loss.  Your time with Zeus was precious, and as you said, worth what you are experiencing now.  Hugs.

Ohhh I'm so sorry, my condolences go out to you and your pack. No, of course he wasn't "just a dog," Zeus was a special gift to you and everyone around him, always teaching those dog lessons that help us become better humans. Zeus's sparkle, charm and love is no longer of physical form but now his spirit is eternal, and will never fade.

His time was far too short as a Tripawd, that is a heartbreaker. But please don't beat yourself up. You made all of your decisions for him with devotion and love, and no dog could ever ask for more.

We would love to celebrate his life if you're up to it. Here's a post about adding images to the forums, tell us about some of the fun times you had together when you're ready.

Zeus is with our Tripawd angels now, and I'm sure the party at the rainbow bridge is a good one with your little guy as the guest of honor.

Many hugs & condolences to you.

Make no mistke about it, Zeus is a SUPERSTAR HERO around here and he will never be forfotten!!! He has some pretty tough challenges with his diagnosis, but he didn't pay any attention!

Zeus just got on with living life and with making every moment by your side be a lifetime. Your love for Zeus came shining through with every post. And you gave him the most selfless gift of love when he needed it most. He is free from pain and frolicking at the Bridge with all his special pals.

PLEASE stay connected and share more aboutnyour precious Zeus when you can. We know all too well how devastating this part of the journey is. The void hurts soooo badly. We are your family and we cry with you. Vut we also celebrate the GLORIOUS ZEUS and the happy life her had with you in his earth clothes.

Zeus will send you a sign he is okay and he is still very present in energy form around you. Pay attention.

Surrounding you with our love and our hugs and all the happy memories you and Zeus shared
