The day following our last update, on 3/3/23, (4 months post op) Sunshine's lungs had rapidly deteriorated to the point he was often wailing at each inhale.  He could no longer get outside.  His breathing sounded like gurgling.  I made that heart-wrenching decision, Sunny was suffering and I had to help release his sweet soul from this diseased "meat suit".

I called "At Peace Pets" the morning of 3/3, an in-home euthanasia service.  The Dr. arrived by 2pm.  I spent those final hours with Sunny, telling him he was going to fly free and see his bothers that had passed years before.  I must have told him I loved him about 1000 times.  I was so happy he would be free of pain soon!  I was so happy for him when he took that last breath.  I was so happy that he didn't have to endure the torture of suffocating.  He passed away peacefully in my arms.  sp_hearticon2

I would not change a thing about this entire experience.  I am forever change by witnessing Sunny's ...well "sunny" outlook and strong determination to "get out there and live" which he did!!   He will always be my hero and without this experience, witnessing how a being can overcome anything that comes their way, I wouldn't now have that in me!

Truly a gift has been given to me!  Thank you for this site, as I would have been lost without it. sp_hearticon2sp_hearticon2

Love,

Ohhhh Kristen. I am so very sorry. We all feel the heartache when a Tripawds family member gets their wings, and even more when it happens so soon after surgery. My heart goes out to you.

Making that difficult decision to shed those earth clothes is never something we want to do, and we hope to avoid it for as long as possible. But it's our obligation to make sure our pets don't suffer, and wow you carried out your responsibility so heroically. Just like your sweet boy, a hero through and through. He was so loved!

Your outlook on the experience is so incredible, so strong, just like Sunny. He taught you so many life lessons, and clearly you were such a good student. Thank you for letting us know that he is now your forever angel. His legacy lives on here, and in the lives of everyone he touched. What a gift to the world.

Lots and lots of love headed your way my friend. Please come back if you want, and share some of the good memories you had together. Sunshine's life is always celebrated among the Tripawds family.
