Haha Karen!  Arktik looks fabulous!  Jake last fall got quilled and now he'll run to the porcupine  and back away smiley4  I'm so glad everything is going so well!

Karen I loved your post hahaha

I am amazed how Jake as learned from his 'mistake' with the porcupine the first time. Many don't learn from that mistake and go for them again. Arktik only got quilled once, but I am pretty sure having the chance it would try this again hahaha

Today, we are having a quiet day following chemo. We will go for a little walk later.

Today Arktik is much more awake then yesterday and feeling great. It seems that Arktik always has a day a bit off after chemo but bounces back afterward. 2 more treatments to go.

Our oncologist talked to us about a new drug that has apparently had a bit of success although this is definitely not guaranteed, that just became available with them. Maybe it is more known is the States than here in Canada. But as it was not too expensive we have decided to give it a try. Only time will tell. It called Auranofin, and it is given in pills.

Now here is what we have been up to after our morning walk.

Here's a couple of video showing a bit of Arktik's life when he is inside. Other than sleeping on the couch, he likes to play with his toys and talking!

The best balls are the one that are destroyed...

Karen - Warning turn volume down.

I am absolutely in love with Arktik. He is vocal just like Brownie was. And he is just beautiful and so Happy!  And so strong! It is easy to see the love you have for him, and he you!

If I didn't live in the hot state of Texas I would look into rescuing a Husky,  but I know they prefer the colder weather.

My Beautiful Beloved Brownie was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma on February 26, 2019.  With all odds against him he lived an additional one year and eight days with amputation, love, and prayer.  I was honored to be his mom, and I have never been so proud!  He will live forever in my Heart!

Hi Patricia!  That video of Arktik howling had me rolling!  What a singer!  I'm so glad to hear that he bounced back from chemo - he is a strong boy! sp_hearticon2 I'm so glad that you brought up Auranofin.  Oakley's dad, Paul, had mentioned it and then started a new topic called "Auranofin Treatment Thoughts?"  Would you mind posting there with any information you have about Auranofin - dosage, when to start (during or after chemo?), cost, side effects, etc?  I asked Griffin's oncologist about it and she doesn't have any experience with it, although she is willing to give a prescription if I want.  I know Auranofin (aka Ridaura - not sure which is generic) is way more expensive in the US than Canada, and I already looked into ordering online from Canada if I decide to go forward.  I'd love to give Griffin's oncologist more information if your vet is recommending it.  Thanks!  ~ Stacy

Griffin lived an amazing life for 11 years! Diagnosed with osteosarcoma on March 17, 2020, Griffin's right forelimb was amputated on April 2, 2020. Ten days later he was running and playing fetch! Lung metastasis discovered in July 2020 did not slow down Griffin and he lived joyfully for the next 7 months, passing peacefully at home on February 11, 2021. https://griffin.tripawds.com

Thanks all for your wonderful comments on Arktik 🙂 I will be sure to let him you liked his voice (he is usually very happy to make it loud).

Stacy, thank you for the link for the auranofin treatment. I will make sure to add any information I have on it.

Hi Patricia,

Arktik has a beautiful husky voice! 😆 He obviously has strong opinions. It's great to see him doing so well. Has his fur filled in already?

I love reading about Arktik. What a handsome (and loud!) fella. It is inspiring for me to see how Arktik is doing, especially seeing a front leg amputee figuring it out.

Thanks for sharing sp_hearticon2

We have been enjoying the amazing weather the past few days. Yesterday Arktik had a great day playing with his friend at the lake but I can tell he is a little bit tired today. Other than that all is good, tomorrow it's blood work time following the second round of chemo.

Hi Patricia!  I'm so glad Arktik is doing well.  I, too, notice a bit of a decrease in Jake's stamina.  It's like I want him to have fun but I don't want him to overdue.  A bit of a balancing act.  But you and I are both lucky that our dogs seem happy!  Enjoy the day.smiley9

Today is blood work day following our second round of chemo. Here's Arktik's opinion about going for another blood work 😉 He is hanging out with his buddy Chaluppa.

Whoo hoo, Arktik!  I never doubted that you would have great blood test results.  Now go have some fun and tell Chaluppa that Griffin sends his regards! sp_hearticon2
