It's so good to be back! And what better way to celebrate than sharing a wonderful Tripawd Tuesday story?! Today you'll meet Rex, who had a tough start in life but thankfully found his way to mom Michelle from Lake View, New York. Here's how Rex won her heart.

Rex found the good life!

There are good dog breeders out there, and not good dog breeders out there. Poor Rex, he came from one of the bad puppy mill breeders of "Mini Bernese Mountain Dogs." The breeder decided that he was not worth selling, and this handsoe guy narrowly escaped a terrible end.

Today, Rex the Tripawd has a pawesome life that every dog dreams about! Here's his story.

How old is your Tripawd?

  • 6.5 years

Rex cheers for his favorite team!

When and Why did your Tripawd lose a leg?

  • Born with out most of it, nub & shoulder removed when we adopted him at 7-8 months of age

How did your Tripawd adapt to life on three?

  • Great! He doesn’t know he’s missing a leg.

What are your Tripawd's favorite things to do?

  • Roll around in the grass, go for walks, visit local dog stores & breweries.

Did you adopt a Tripawd? If so, why? Tell us your pet's Gotcha Day story.

  • We did adopt Rex, we adopted him prior to his surgery. He was discarded from a puppy mill because he was missing most of his leg and not sellable. Thankfully they gave him up to a rescue and not end his life.
  • Once I saw him posted I knew I had to adopt him! Thankfully the rescue picked us to adopt him and he is very spoiled and loved now!

Rex celebrates Indepawdence Day!

If you went through amputation surgery recovery with your animal, what did you think would happen after surgery? Did your worst fears happen? How did you cope?

  • We didn’t know what to expect since we took him right after surgery. He had 3 different surgeries so he was pretty out of it when he came home. We did have to carry him in and outside for the first 2 days but then he was up and at it like normal.

What is the biggest lesson you learned from your Tripawd?

  • We will forever have a special needs dogs in our lives.

What is your best advice to someone who is about to go through amputation with their pet, or someone who is thinking of adopting a Tripawd?

  • Do it! You will not regret adopting a special needs dog. Rex is the happiest dog we have ever met. He will just look at you and start wagging his tail! Everyone he meets , loves him so much!
