I noticed some dog left a bunch of cookie crumbs so I stopped to eat them.
Titan, if it makes you feel any better, that was the one part of the test I almost flunked too. I mean what do they expect us to do? I think they do that to make sure we won't eat pills that get dropped on the floor or something, but then if that's the case then why don't they just drop some pills on the floor? they definitely aren't as tasty as cookies!
I got a "C" on my test, and barely passed. It was pretty tough. Sounds like your therapy class teacher is pretty tough, but hang in there, I know you can do it.
And so glad to hear the chemo is going well. You are a strong, happy healthy dog, you will do just fine!

I agree with Jerry! They SHOULD just drop some pills on the floor; not cookies! Sheesh, what's a poor dog to do? I mean, duh. Just look at our noses!
And, Titan, I am a big bonehead for not saying something about your second round of chemo and how well you are doing. That is so good to hear and just hearing that your Mom is so happy makes me happy too. Paws up!

I am happy to report Titan is doing AMAZING! It has been almost 2.5 months since his amputation. I think we found a new vet who seems to be a good match for us. Titan has had his 3rd chemo. His blood tests have been great so we are ready for round 4. We did get some meds with his adrio chemo. He was a little down but after a few days was back to himself. Thank you all for your love and support.

Oh, this is grand news Heidi! I'm glad you have found a new vet that you seem to like and trust and you're almost ready for round 4 of the chemo! News like this always makes me feel so good inside. Hang in there, Titan, we love you! Our paws and fingers are crossed in prayer.

I'm glad that Titan is doing well! I'm curious about his chemo plan. Are you doing alternating Carboplatin/Adriamycin every 3 weeks? How many treatments? I am trying to decide if I will do 4 or 5 treatments for Tazzie. Her platelet count went down to 26,000 the first time (normal is 175,000 or higher) and her white cells were also low but she bounced back. She is on Carboplatin every 3 weeks but only had her second dose 10 days ago.
Thanks for the update,
Pam and Tazzie
They are doing the carbo and then alternating the adrio. He goes every 3 weeks. They have us doing 6-8 chemos. I know the last test after the adrio his white blood cells were 3900 and I guess they don't like to see it go below 2500. When he got his test before his 3rd which was carbo it was back up to 12,500+. Any suggestions you have would be great. I thought 8 sessions are a little much but I am not a vet. What do you think Tazzie's mom?
Titan's blood count looks good now, so they can keep up with the same dose of chemo next time. Some vets still like to rotate chemo drugs in an effort to try to catch any resistant cancer cells. If your dog can handle this, then you need to do 3 to 4 courses of both drugs so 6 to 8 treatments is fine. The main problem with using 2 drugs is that some dogs can't take the full number of treatments or the full drug dose because it is too hard on the bone marrow. As far as I know, survival times are the same for adria plus carboplatin versus carboplatin alone. If you only use adriamycin survival times are shorter. I elected carboplatin only for Tazzie because she has a pre-existing liver condition and carboplatin is the safest drug. It sounds like Titan is doing great so I would keep up with the program!

Titan had his 4th chemo today right now he is doing fine. Everyone that sees him can'y believe how happy he is. I got the ruffwear harness and it is working great. Since he is still so strong it's nice to have something to help keep him on track. Next time they will do a repeat xray it will be 3 months. Paws are crossed
