Jerry, the physiotherapist has told me: "You can do it in several repetitions, but always without exhausting it. For 3 minutes every 48-72 hours or as long as it lasts"
That's exactly what we have been told too. A little goes a long way right?
I have some doubts about some treatments and maybe someone has had some experience with them:
1- combination chemotherapy, carboplatin + doxorubicin
2- nonspecific immunomodulators (muramil tripeptide, parapoxivirus D1701), interlencin 2 (oral route)
3- doxycycline
4- vitamin C, intravenously5- Oncovet I and II
6-Turmeric
7-mushrooms
Do you mean that your vet wants wants to do all of the treatments you listed?
What I can comment on is this:
Here's a link with our chemotherapy information.
Most dogs here only receive 4 to 6 treatments of carboplatin. A few receive a combination as your vet wants to do. It really depends on what kind of success your vet has had with the combination. Doxorubicin can be hard on the body so we don't see it used here too often with osteosarcoma.
Most dogs tolerate carboplatin very well. Some will have a day or two of low appetite and sometimes nausea, but your vet can prescribe medications ahead of time that will help, just in case Jara has side-effects.
I don't know anything about the nonspecific immunomodulators (muramil tripeptide, parapoxivirus D1701), interlencin 2 (oral route) that you mentioned and a quick internet search isn't coming up with anything. It sounds like she's considering a type of immunotherapy? Would those therapies be given when her chemotherapy sessions are complete? Do you have any links that you can share?
Doxycycline is typically given for metronomics , a follow-up chemotherapy treatment that's given with a pill, at home. There have been some anti-cancer properties noted in this antibiotic.
Intravenous vitamin C is quite popular with a lot of natural medicine veterinarians. It's used in human cancer therapy all the time to help fight cancer, but not so much in dogs and I can't figure out why. That's a pretty exciting therapy your vet is suggesting!
Turmeric and medicinal mushrooms are quite popular both for dogs and humans with cancer. You'll find some info about them in the Tripawds Nutrition blog .
One thing you might want to ask your vet about is the new Torigen immunotherapy vaccine. It's similar to the Oncovet I and II, and is an exciting new treatment being given to pets with cancer and it might be available where you live.

Yeah, some of these same questions as Jerry.
I was a little "concerned" about Jara doi g too much too soon as far as some of her Rehabilitation and strength building exercise. So I really liked that her. physiotherapist has given you some guidelines on how to be effective with exhausting her or overdoing her muscles, etc. Yoi are doing such an extraordinary good job!! And clearly Jara is loving all her special time with you., You two have such a beautiful bond.
When it comes to chemo, some proceed with it, some don't. It is sich a perso al choice. Thete really is no eight or wrong.
As Jerry said, most often we see Carboplatin used here and it see,s to jave the least side effects. In many cases, none at all. I did do four rounds of Carboplatin with my Hapoy Hannah and ahe sailed thru them. In her case, the Onco suggested four as adequate and that was what she generally recommended.
You seem to have a lot of options to consider. One thing the Onco told me was. "More isn't necessarily better. Sometimes it's just more."
That thought may help you scale down the options to just one kind of chemo like Carboplatine and maybe the Vitamin C injection and mushroom supplement. . Just using that as an example.
As Nancy mentioned , you can always go the holostic appr. Brownie certainly thrived gping that route.
No matter what, Jara is loved and happy and that's really all that matters.
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

Thank you very much Brownie 1201 for your comment. I will see the link of "K9 Immunity ", what is CBD ?.
Hi Jerry, my vet is from conventional medicine and I have read these treatments on the internet, some of these treatments can be complementary to conventional medicine, however before giving any treatment I will also consult with the vet.
1- Now they are giving Jara only carboplatin.
2- In this video from minute 11:09, the recommended treatments for osteosarcoma are exposed, list=PLEaI2Bjmo8ifffd3LpZM89V0AyC77yl-_&index=6
3- Vitamin C therapy, in the US, is being applied for dogs, Integrative Veterinary Center,
4- The link "Nutrition" is very good,
5- I will ask about the vaccine to the onco.
Benny55, thank you very much for your comments, I tell you here that there will be 4 or 5 carboplatin sessions, depending on the state of Jara. Regarding the other treatment options, I will have to assess the availability here in Spain, the advice of the vet, the onco and people who have tried these treatments.
My wife and I have had several dogs, but this dog is the one that is always with me.
They make CBD for people and dogs to treat many things. Pain, anxiety, and now is believed to slow the spread of cancer. I used "Rovers Relief CBD for Dogs". It is vet approved but also approved by scientists. The owner is awesome. You can go to their website and submit a question and they will call or write you back. Just ask Benny55. I sent her some and her dog ate the whole bag.
Brownie's banner popped up. There goes my heart jumping.
My Beautiful Beloved Brownie was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma on February 26, 2019. With all odds against him he lived an additional one year and eight days with amputation, love, and prayer. I was honored to be his mom, and I have never been so proud! He will live forever in my Heart!

That's a great video, thank you for sharing! Yes ask your vet about the immunotherapy treatment, it's worth looking into.
Here are our Tripawds articles about veterinary cannabis medicine (including CBD).

Manuel, I'm sorry you aren't able to get it there. Other mushroom supplements are out there, you just have to be careful that the ones you buy are 100% organic and not made with ingredients from China. Here's a post you might want to check out:
