There is no need for anyone to respond.  I just wanted to share this ironic story.

Our business neighbors at our office/warehouse have a sweet pitbull that they keep at their office.  She was relagated there since she killed another dog. (but she is very people friendly) She isn't a junk yard dog or anything, she just has to live at their office that has a fenced yard.  She is very loved and very well taken care of by her owners who couldn't put her down after the incident.  They are there more than home even.  As a matter of fact, she was so nice she welcomed in robbers!  She wasn't a watch dog!

Anyway, today we found out that she was diagnosed with cancer in her leg.  Our business neighbors brought her by to see my husband so he could say goodbye.  They are putting her down tonight.  I know, I know - the thought of putting her down bothered me, too.  Until we found out that she is 14 years old.

I think they are making the right choice because of her age and I know they love her.  But I feel terrible for them for having to make that choice.

So Goodbye Ginger.

Ginger was a loved girl, for she was given a place to live where she had room to run and play and wouldn't be tempted by other dogs.  That took a lot of courage, I am sure to keep her after an incident.  I am not surprised about the robbers, pitties are NOT watch dogs, they will generally let the person in the house, show them around while wagging their tail and licking their hands, and then escort them to the door when they are done. I'm sorry your neighbors were faced again with a tough choice for their girl.  It is heartbreaking, but I totally understand, she was a very old girl.

RIP sweet Ginger.  Run free at Rainbow Bridge.

You guys are so nice!

I did want to clarify that Ginger killed a little dog that got into her back yard.   She didn't attack a dog out of the blue.

It sounds like your business neighbors were very responsible and loving parents. This was always a fear that I had with Fortis. We had a couple of dogs that would climb/jump into Fortis' backyard as well as a very small child.  He never hurt the other dogs but did initially scare the crap out of them and me. He demanded submission and I'm glad he received it or the outcome might have been different one unfortunately. Dogs will be dogs. As for the child, well he loves children, but a small child potentially alone with a large dog of any kind is not smart in my book. I worked from home and was always a bit nervouswhen Fortis was outside alone. Fortunately for me, a Corso wants to be with it's pack and Fortis usually was.

Sorry for rambling AGAIN! Anyhow, I'm truly sorry that your neighbors have had to make such a tough decision. But like Rene has already said, it was made with love and care. RIP Ginger.

You can ramble!  That's why I wrote "no need to respond" because it is code for "Ramble here, Brett!" big-blink
