Bummer!!!    Hopefully the meds and rest  will work their magic.....and a ,or of patience!!!!    It take much longer  for strained muscles or partial tears to heal.....but the do!!!!!!!!

Google repairing tears without surgery.  You 'll find lots of helpful tips beyond "just rest"  (which is ABSOLUTELY  a must of course).

And then search here for puzzles and mind games to get smart dogs like Ava occupied.

Clare and Karen may chime in with some great tips.   PETRA also just dealt with a muscle strain for super Stu and can help.

Extra bugs

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too

Let is know how she's  doing .

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

Absolutely Sally. So Stewie tends to strain either something in his neck or in his leg occasionally and we haven’t been able to pin point to anything specific, so we are assuming muscle... this is definitely not to say that you should do the same okay, be sure to follow your vets advice for Ava.

Stewie’s vet has prescribed both Gabapentin (300mg doses) and Metacam (5ml) doses for Stewie. Keeping in mind that he is a 100lb dog. Right now we are looking into alternative medicines for Stewie. He was unlike himself for a couple of weeks and had me quite worried. And even though he is not hopping as far as he used to, his spirits are back to his hoppy self! He has been doing super well this last week and so we had taken him off of his Metacam. The Gaba had been stopped before that.

We are also taking Stewie in for Ortho-Bionomy treatments every week. This helps to keep him straight, so to speak and hopefully will maintain his good health.

Good luck with Ava and we will keep her in our prayers for a quick recovery.

all the best

Petra, Stewie and his Kittens

Thank you all!    It broke my heart the night over a week ago that her injury presented problems.    The hardest part is that she is such a wonderfully strong spirited dog so even through her body might not cooperate she is determined to make it so!

Her first week is going well and I will definitely look at some alternative therapy.  The meds seem to be helping but any additional help will be great!

We had her with us on vacation last at house rental week for some great rest but now that JJ and Onya are home from being at the doggy spa she wants to much (as do they) to get back to normal and being a pack.

Praying she gets the rest she needs and we will make the adjustments in our crazy household as needed 🙂

Never a dull moment but we wouldn't have it any other way!
