How sweet!! I think it is just amazing how other animals can meet one and sense the need and importance of the rescue. Your pack is no different. They knew she was not a threat to them in any way, and their acceptance will be part of her recovery, BEAUTIFUL! I can only imagine your heart pounding when you saw she had out done you with the baby gate ! I would have been the same way oh-my I am so glad it worked out the way it did! The pictures are precious, I don't think you could see any animal with a happier look on her face, she looks just utterly content clapThank you for sharing!

Big hugs heart

This was literally a wander about 50m from the house and back again, if that. Hopefully that's not over the top? It's on our land, and she's never been on a leash, so I've not properly introduced that yet, while she's still recovering. When I have had her on it pre-surgery, she froze, so I have a bit of work to do there to get her happy with it.

I think that sounds fine, not over the top at all considering her background. I can see how keeping her on a leash right now would be a big issue so you're doing great!

How cool that the other doggies have welcomed her right into the pack. It's a great sign that she's found her tribe!

Ohhhhhhhhh ...

This is the sweetest thing ever 💕

What a sweetie pie 💕💕💕

She is SO happy, so content and protected and so, so relaxed with her little tongue sticking out 💓

Marvellous.

Truly marvellous.

It's as if your other doggies knew she had a rotten life and now deserves a wonderful family ...

Something is telling me Senorita Conchita is not moving to cold England now that she has found her place in your beautiful home 😉

Thank you so much for the update, it is really uplifting and sweet as honey 🍯

She looks soooooooo happy and relaxed!  The more you post the more I love your pack!

Based on your situation and what you said I don't think you are overdoing.  It does have to be tailored to each dog- it's just sometimes we've seen here dogs being too active in the first two weeks and it leads to complications like seromas.   It's really hard to keep some dogs quite while they heal, especially the young ones. I'm guessing that Conchita feels so much better without that bad leg that she is ready to conquer the world!

On the leash- my current Tripawd is a little rescue mutt I got when she was 10 months old, she was hit by a car at 7 months and lost her right rear leg.  I notice with her that when I snap a leash on her collar she freezes, but when I use her harness she is fine.  Not sure why that is but I thought I would mention it.

Keep the pictures coming!  And more ears please!

Hello everyone!

I thought I'd post an update. Conchita is no longer part of my little family 🙁

BUT, she is having the most amazing life in the UK with my family there! 🙂

As much as I would have loved to keep her for myself, we live in a ski resort in the winter and it wouldn't have been right to have her struggle in the deep snow or on slippery ice. So, she's now in the south-east of England, living the life of the royalty that she is! I get regular pupdates from my parents and my sister, who she sees on an almost daily basis. Even my sister's ofttimes grumpy dog, Bo, adores her. She has really bonded to my sister, which is likely because we share very similar mannerisms, and she is helping Chi to get past some of her minor issues, such as walking on a lead and getting in and out of the car, both of which she struggled with at first.

We took her to Greyfriars, which is the leading rehab and hydro centre in the UK, for an assessment. The physio was really happy with her and doesn't think she needs any treatment at this stage. She'll be going back for another check-up in a couple of months to make sure everything is staying on track.

Her confidence is growing daily and she is getting happier with people wanting to pet her, which is a common occurrence. As I say, it's not every day people see a bat-eared tripawd!

Here's what you've been waiting for...

Firstly a video of her greeting my sister when she turns up at my parents' house to collect her dog after work:

And some pictures of the good lady 🙂

Look! I'm in the car!

So good to hear from you!! I am glad she has found her place and is happy, that video says it all! When you first said she was no longer part of your family my heart dropped, I thought something had happened to her, but this is great!! Thank you so much for sharing, you have made the biggest difference in her life, that was a wonderful thing that you did. And she is still in your family, just not living with you but WOW she looks so very happy!

She looks sooooooo happy! That last picture of her smile says it all.

I'm sorry for you that you couldn't keep her but you are wonderful for thinking about what is best for her.

Conchita is loving life in the UK. She's now living full-time with my sister, who she bonded with very closely, but she gets to stay with my parents whenever she is at work, so she gets to have two homes! From none to two, just perfect.

Here she is on one of her recent walks. I think it looks like she's saying "I have the sun on my face and the wind in my ears. Life is good!" 🙂

PS.....TRIPAWDS puts out a calendar every year with photos of our tripawd heroes.  Usually the "call for photos" starts around October/November.  Be on the lookout! This photo would be perfect!! 🙂
