Hi pals, I am also not going for chemo - too expensive in South Africa, so mom is just feeding me a healthy diet.  They took xrays of my lungs on the 9th of May and it was all clean.

Good luck with the chemo!

Lotsa licks and lotsa love, Dee xxx

Hi Guys,

thanks for all the kind words and support.  You know, mom doesn't know if this can be "cured" She hears varying reports that sometimes, the leg off is the cure, sometimes not.  But what she decided was that it is the best insurance she can buy, these four doses of chemo and good immune supplements, to keep me happy and healthy.  I am a young guy, around 7, so she hopes I am here a longer while. but she has, after reading the stuff Jerry sent from Doug B, decided just to enjoy every day with me. So I get lots of smooches and hugs.

Now, she of course last night got the willies worrying about should I get a second opinion about the type of chemo etc...the oncologist said to use a drug that began with the letter D, she can't remember it now.  This guy is a great oncologist, just willies she has. has anyone had that drug?

It helps to hear other tripawds did well.  You know, she had chemo herself, and knows it wasn't so bad.  It will all be good. You guys are so great.

Hi Lauren...I'm not sure we can ever know if the cancer is "cured", we just have to listen to our hearts and do what we feel is best. If your gut tells you to get a second opinion, then do it. I was fortunate that my best friend is a vet and another very dear friend is also one...so I had 3 medical opinions and they all agreed on the same course of action and treatment. Still, I was petrified about going ahead with amputation and with chemo, but my heart was telling me it was the right thing to do - and so was zeus in his own way. I took a leap of faith and so far, it has all worked out better than I could ever have dreamed. One day at a time Lauren as it sounds like you know. Scout is an absolutely beautiful wonder dog...look into those eyes that love you so much and you will find your answer.

Lots of love,

Heather

thanks heather and Zeus,

Mom just got back from a few days away and my family took care of me.  she sees how even in a few days I have become stronger and more independent!

I start chemo tomorrow.  you know, I sat by mom through 11 months of chemo and now it's her turn.  But it will be okay, she is happy with how happy i seem and has the kind words of people like you to support her.

thank you for the compliment, my friend amelia tells me that I am the best and cutest dog they ever made at the dog factory, (but I'm sure she hasn't seen Zeus!)

🙂

Good luck Scout...you'll do great ~ I'm glad to hear that mom got away for a few days, we hope it was for some R&R..the pawrents need rest too. Mom is leaving tomorrow for 9 days and my grandpa came all the way from Ohio to watch me and my brother so mom didn't have to worry or cancel her trip that has been planned since before my diagnosis. I'm so excited to spend time with grandpa - he loves us up SO much and I know that mom needs a break - she's exhausted...I'm doing so well and there are no mets that I hope she can have a good time and get some rest.

We're with you all the way Scout and know, that even though you won't hear from us for a little while that we're thinking of you and praying for you.

Much love,

Mom and Zeus
