Hello everyone.
I last visited this site Sept 19, just a few days after Peanut's surgery. I may have been gone from the site all this time, but I've never forgotten about it, the people, and especially the dogs.
I now have 3 weeks off from work, so I am able to catch up! Woohoo.
It was devastating for me to read about those that are no longer with us since only 3 months ago. Let me tell you I cried harder reading those stories than I have during this entire journey with Peanut. My heart goes out to all of you.
For Peanut, it's a different story. I have remained positive and hopeful, and spend most of my free time taking her and Bubba, my 4yr old Springer Spaniel, on daily excursions. She is still the same Peanut, minus her front left leg. She's happy, strong, and full of life. My friends call her a "champion".
It's been just about 3 months since her surgery. Her last set of xrays were done last weekend… and… drum roll, please… still NO lung mets!
Peanut is an amazing dog, and I thank the stars for every day she's with me. I know her time will come sooner than it should; just like all of our tripawd friends. But I still refuse to feel sorry for her or me. Since her diagnosis, I have focused on maintaining a positive outlook… for all our benefits. I broke down and cried a few times a while ago. But I realized then that I was crying at the thought of her being gone. But she's not gone. So my eyes have stayed dry for us, and my spirit has been hopeful for her.
Peanut celebrated her 6th birthday 11/30. Family and friends called to wish her happy birthday, and visitors actually came and brought her gifts! The other day I was walking (ok, so it was more, like, trotting) her down the block, when a person drove by and shouted, "I love your dog!".
She draws people to her, and they naturally fall in love. Peanut is truly a special dog, and I will continue to celebrate her life.

But if Oslo and Peanut had babies would they have three legs? Bet they would be cute even if they are four legged!
I'm glad to hear that Peanut is doing well. Also, happy belated birthday!

What a wonderful update!! Peanut looks very happy on that bed of snow, we have about the same amount and very cold! Your love and attitude can be the best medicine for her. I share your thoughts and try hard to focus on Paris living and not about when she might die.
Keep up the good work, she is a beautiful girl!!
Gineej & Paris
Grateful for every moment we had with Paris…..no regrets!

Peanut is a big beauty. Glad you could come back for a visit and update. Looks like she's doing very well.

Jake lost his battle on 11/9/2009, almost 8 weeks after his surgery. We will never forget our sweet golden angel… http://jakesjou.....ipawds.com ….. CANCER SUCKS!
Peanut, thanks for sharing your story. Glad to hear you are doing so well after 4 1/2 mos. My Supai and I are just 2 weeks into this adventure and these positive stories make it easier to keep our attitude positive. From everything I have read on this site that is the key to success. And the more hope we give each other the easier it is to have it.
As Jakesmom told me, "Our friends are living with cancer, not dieing from it!"
Enjoy your next outing.
Shaun & Supai
Thanks, everyone! It's good to be back to see old and new faces.
Now I have to work on getting more pictures and videos to share.
Hey Shaun and Supai... we're not yet at 4.5 months... but we're hoping for the best! 🙂
I remember right after Peanut had her surgery, the orthopedic surgeon told me the tumor was so bad that if I didn't amputate, she would not have made it another month (assuming that the pain level would have been too great for her). I know it's not easy to put a timeline on any of this, so I consider every day with Peanut a gift.
Here's the latest picture from today. It's the Peanut and Bubba smackdown; they already had round 1 of rough play, and here they're getting ready for round 2. Peanut's still able to bat him around (and Bubba is a large Springer... kind of a mutant!). Not the best quality pic, but it was 5pm and dark.
