I second that, you and Brandy are AMAZING and you both have such a strong, pawsitive attitude! I'm reallllllly sorry this is so ruff, it's unreal. But yeah, you and the vet are working hard to get her healthy again, it WILL happen!
Keep on eating, drinking, pottying and hanging in there Brandy! We are all thinking of you and sending our love for more healing ahead.

Well. Went to the vet with Brandy this morning. (This appt was scheduled since last Thursday.)
Brandy is still not walking. But her back foot/leg is getting warmer and pinker.
Brandy is still eating, drinking, pottying, and cuddling.
And she is not dehydrated.
But. And a big but. Her incision is just not healing. It is getting worse and worse.
The vet gave me more antibiotics for Brandy and told me to continue the steroid med twice a day.
So now Brandy is on 2 antibiotics, the steroid, and the Gabapentin.
And we are stopping the antibiotic cream because I feel like any time I put it on her incisions, her skin just gets worse and it seems like her skin is disintegrating. (She still has quite a bit of dead skin. And every time they do any work with her incisions, more dead skin appears, it seems.)
If we can get Brandy's leg to start working, then we can work on her incisions.
If we can't get her leg to work, well, there isn't much more we could do.
Brandy is close to the end of her days.
We have an appt scheduled for Thursday. And if she has improved on her leg, then we will go forward with the incisions. If she hasn't improved, well we will see.
The vets don't give her too much longer with how she is doing right now, so let us all pray she gets better!
I need her to get better.
But, I have accepted the fact if she doesn't get better.
But here's hoping she does get better!
I was just thinking of you guys wondering how the appointment went. Oh Amanda I am so sorry, just sick to read this!
Sounds like Brandy is still trying thats a good sign she is eating drinking going potty,
Keep working on her leg and the bicycle exercises ! Massage.
I just dont understand whats happening, is the skin not healing because of the VAS?
We continue saying prayers for you both and that Brandy fights her way out of this! My Mom is saying prayers for you both too ,we can't have too many prayers said!
Sending you the biggest of hugs! My heart breaks for you!
I am so sorry that this is happening to you and Brandy.
Is your vet a surgeon? If not then I think you need another opinion from a surgeon. There are so many cats who have had amputations here and many on a VAS site where I'm a member and I do not recall hearing of this complication.
If your vet is a surgeon is she/he consulting with another vet? Did the vet run a test to determine the type of antibiotic required?
I encourage you to not wait until Thursday to find out more answers. I know this is stressful so I hope you find a solution soon.
You could always post this problem at http://tripawds.....ask-a-vet/ where a great vet could give some ideas.

Yes. Her vets are surgeons.
It's just something wrong with Brandy herself. She just has some reason that her skin isn't wanting to heal. No underlying thing that we can tell.
She just got unlucky with everything.
And there isn't much lose skin left for more surgeries if her skin keeps dying off after each surgery. (From her incision to her back end.)
Like she could probably do one more surgery, but not many more after that.
So sad to read your update. You guys have been through so much in such a short time. 🙁 I hope very much that you find a solution and Brandy starts to heal up, but either way am comforted that she doesn't seem to be in pain and is getting lots of love. I'll be thinking of you on Thursday.
I'm so, so sorry about this situation, Amanda. You really have been through the wringer and I second the others that your attitude throughout has been amazing. Has Brandy seen a soft tissue specialist? I ask because they might have options a regular surgeon wouldn't have, for example skin flap surgery, and possibly also some more aggressive means of treating the infection. They definitely need to determine precisely what sort of infection it is and I presume they are doing so. Also, have you tried Manuka honey???? If not, I would seriously consider this. Talk to your vet. It can work absolute wonders.
Sending every positive vibe your way and a big, warm hug.
