Brandy came home with me. She just may be too weak is why she is not moving her back leg. She has feeling in it.

The vet told me to feed her 3 times a day. And she has some steroid meds too.

Brandy now weighs 11.74 lbs.

I am gonna feed her 3 times a day with wet food and have dry food out for her. She needs to gain weight back, then slowly lose it. The vet said she should be at this weight like 6 months down the road and not now.

My poor baby! 🙁

Okay, so no sore muscles or anything, that's good!

Sorry she's still so weak though, that stinks! Yeah, feed her anything to get some good calories and nutrients back in her. Poor thing. Is she still drinking okay and not dehydrated, right'

Hopefully the steroids will increase her appetite.

GLAD SHE'S HOME!!!!!! 🙂

Yea. She is still drinking, eating, and pottying. Just not eating enough.

I'm at Petsmart now and getting her a bunch of wet food! 🙂

Im just catching up. You guys can't catch a break here oh my! You are stronger then you know both of you!

Any insight on when she should be using her leg then ? Is it now just get here stronger and see?

We see a Holistic Vet and he started accupuncture on Purrkins when he still had his stitches in. I dont know if you have that is a option for you or if it is doable.  I believe that would help her if its an option.

Did you happen to see that supplement they have listed on the sight? Might be of some help too.

Viyo Recuperation http://nutritio.....ign=buffer

You have both been thru the wringer ,I feel terrible for you both!

Please keep us posted and will continue saying  prayers for you both!

She still can't walk, but she did eat and drink some today. Like ate almost a whole small can of wet food, ate some dry kitten food, and drank some water. But only ate and drank when I held the bowls under her chin, which I am ok with doing, for right now, under the circumstances. lol. I did move her litter box closer to her so she won't have to walk as far right now. I'll move it a little further away back to where it normally goes in the next few days, as she improves.

Poor thang came into the living room earlier this afternoon, but drug her back leg the whole time, so I picked her up and took her back to her room to keep her more-so contained.

I went into her room periodically this afternoon to check on her and to offer her food and water.

Good Grief, kitty, give your Mama a break! Poor both of you. Maybe you should consider limiting her activity more...perhaps keeping her to one room? To conserve her energy and force her to rest more (certainly not an expert, just thinking about it energy in/energy out wise, if it's exhaustion. That poor back leg is using lots of muscle in tough new ways....I'm thinking about what it's like when I do squats or something after not going to the gym for a long time, and how dead my legs feel afterwards).

GREAT that she's eating. More meals sounds smart. And higher calorie ones. She'll be in heaven if you just give her all the things. Harry really likes the friskies tasty treasures with cheese. I think they're pretty high calorie, comparitively. They're shredded meat instead of the pate style so maybe less filling also???? I dunno. Just thoughts.

Brandy has mostly been in her room only. Occasionally she would make it into the living room. (Which isn't that far from her room.)

She likes the Proplan Savor with gravy. (The Beef and Chicken Entrée, Beef and Cheese, and Chicken and Cheese.) She ate the turkey ones, but didn't seem to like them as much as the beef and chicken ones.

I got her kitten dry food because it contains more protein, which she'll need to give her a boost to get moving again.

You are such a good Mom! You are remaining strong and confident and that's a big plus.

Just throwing this out there. Do you think you should seek a second opinion with a new set of eyes checking her out thoroughly? Maybe a fresh look at things to make sure that the weight loss and weakness aren't because of any underlying issue.

So glad she's eating and drinking! And yeah, if you have to bring it to her for now, absolutely!

You're doing a spectacular job! Hang in there!

Hugs!

Agreed! Brandy is lucky to have you for a Mum!

Harry really likes chicken things as well (although he likes turkey, too). I have always thought it quite strange that he likes that more than the stereotypical cat stuff - fishy bits. He absolutely refuses to eat anything salmon flavoured, the pampered prince. But I guess cats do hunt birds...

I could go somewhere else for a second opinion, probably, but then I would have to pay. (Right now, all her treatments, visits, and meds are being paid for by the company who made the vaccine that caused her cancer.)

As far as her vet says, her weight loss is because of her not eating as much as she should be. And her not eating is making her weak.

And as I type, she's eating some food. 🙂

Brandy didn't care for the salmon stuff either. lol. She's not a typical cat either. She's more dog like. 🙂
