Brownie will soon be giving out pawtographs for all his admirers!😎
Absolutely love that you connected with another tripawd whi already knew Brownie from his pic!
We're all cheering for Max to keep on eating and healing. Baby food, CBD oil, whatever it takes!
Hugs
Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
Max lost appetite again. Back to the vet this morning. I have always fed Max grain free with boiled chicken. But stated doing cooked beef as well. Maybe it's too strong for his little system. I think this is my fault.
My Beautiful Beloved Brownie was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma on February 26, 2019. With all odds against him he lived an additional one year and eight days with amputation, love, and prayer. I was honored to be his mom, and I have never been so proud! He will live forever in my Heart!

The last thi g kn rhe world Max wants from uou is to feel guilty about trying to do what's best for him!! That distracts from all the good energy you surround him with when fully focused on spoiling him and loving on him and giving him tummy rubs😎 Max clearly k ows uoj alwaus hace jis gest interest in heart...and it's very clear to all of us too!

So the vet called on max. They said he has no swelling or pain in the belly so we can do one of two things. Give him a appetite supplement or a scan . So its like this.
Max vet appoiment last week 485.00.
Brownie's appt on Saturday 395.00
Utlasound will be 375.00
Since his doctor said that Max condition does not seem to be life threatening I have decided to do more antibiotics and appetite supplement. With meds today and office visit I am probably looking around 200. And brownie has an appt on Saturday which could be between 300 and 500
The plan is if max does not eat by Wednesday to bring him back for ultrasound
The dogs medical savings acct is getting low so Sassy Sue pl ease do not get sick.
Thank God Friday is pay day!

Yowza! Oh my gosh I hope things settle down soon. That sounds like a good plan for Max, you have do work within your budget to save your sanity, I know it's what I would do.
And I agree this is most definitely NOT your fault. You are a GREAT mamma to all the critters, please don't doubt yourself.

Sounds like a very logical and realistic plan! The links Jerry gave you to add to your arsenal should help too.

MAX IS HOME AND HE ATE! He had a scrambled egg with a little Turkey. He wants more but for now it's baby meals. And I can't believe he did not loose any weight when he went a full week not eating regular. However he drank ALOT of water. When I thought for sure Brownie lost 10 lbs but he only lost 2. I am just glad i have the animals a savings acct for emergencies. I was going to pet insurance awhile back bit thought it was pricey for 3 dogs. So I just decided to open them account and save. I decided to gamble and I guess I lost. Oh well...LOL. I'm just happy the are both doing well. I told Sassy please don't get sick!
I will check out those links. I usually hide max medicine but since he wasn't eating I had to do it the old fashion way. He tried to bite me a couple of times but I know it was because he wasn't feeling good and just wanted to be left alone. I'm the same way. Lol

I just read one of the articles and it is so true. I would put a capsule in brownie's food. He would smell it and tip the bowl over with his nose. So I would pick it up and take the capsule out then he would eat. I just don't understand how he can smell a capsule. I think he was also associating eating with medicine. And the powders in the food. Forget it. I have to use baby food (learned that on this site) or cottage cheese and say it's cookie time! Brownie has always been if he doesn't want the food he looks at me and tips the bowl over. If he likes it he wags his tail the whole time he is eating. If he really likes it he would pick up his bowl and carry into another room and eat by himself. If not sassy would try to get it. And the gentlemen he is he would let her have it. That was before he became a tripawd.
I'm not trying to complain about the vet bills. I know they work hard and they are keeping my children alive. I just cannot do treatment on one and not the other. For a couple of days I actually thought I was going to loose max before brownie. I don't know if I ever told you all this is my third time dealing with cancer. About 15 years ago my ex husbands German Shepard at age 5 had OST. Back leg was amputated and chemo. She lived for one year. Back then that was all there was. I knew of no resources or supplements or special diet.. but before Charlee dies my 13 year old collie mix was coughing so I took her to the vet. It was lung cancer and there was nothing they could do. Daisy went to the bridge 3 weeks later. I knew we were loosing Charlee but Daisy was the shock and I thought history was going to repeat itself.
So I am so happy I found this site. I was so worried because Charlee was much younger then Brownie and now it's just me and my babies. I was also worried about his front leg. But after hours of research and actually the next morning after finding this site I called the vet and asked "Is it to late to amputate". I look at him now and think he would mostly likely be on his way to the bridge if we did not. So thanks to all of you for your support and advise! And I can't believe how much has changed in 15 years.

Awwwww you are so sweet. After dealing with cancer so many times, it's a miracle that you even found the strength to find out if things had changed. I think I would have felt so hopeless as well. I'm sorry your animals have dealt with cancer so often but very glad that we were able to be here for Brownie, Max and Sassy today.
That is terrific news about Max! Whatever you are doing, stick to it. That is until he decides he wants to eat his pills another way. Then you adapt, and start from square one right?! These animals, they are smart when it comes to outsmarting us.
And yes we totally get it that vet bills are craaaaaaazy. All of us feel it. Part of it is that we now have more options to treat in different ways, whereas before if a dog got sick, those options were very, very limited. You may want to look into pet insurance again though. Things have changed a lot in the last few years and now there are even discounts for having multiple pets with the same company. Senior dogs cost more for sure, our Wyatt's rate doubled when he turned 10. But as long as we are still paying less for a policy than we would for a treatment for something like cancer, I'm OK with it. I only have one dog though so I can't give you any ideas about premiums for multiple pets but it may be worth looking into when things settle down a bit.
Glad to hear things are steady now and Max has an appetite! Good job!

The vet put Max on ENTYCE. . I like that it comes in a liquid and you just put the plunger in the bottle and draw up the dosage. Easy.
