I joined this community in early May but never posted anything because we were able to have limb sparing surgery for Misty's Osteosarcoma. Well here we are 3 months later because on Sept. 21 she will officially become a tripaw. All the wonderful efforts of the vets at UC Davis were no match to this horrible disease. I think the worst feeling I have is that there is nobody to be mad at. I can't blame the breeder, vets or myself for what Misty is going through. We will have lots of questions in the near future and we are so happy to have the support from this community.

Thank you KaCee,

Dr. Culp did her limb sparing surgery assisted by Dr. Adamonovich. I don't know yet who her amputation surgeon will be but I told her oncologist Dr. Lejune (UC Davis) that I would prefer that he do this surgery as well. I do feel like every doctor there is wonderful so I do know we are in good hands!

Thanks for your support♥

Hi Misty's mom, we also have a young dog w/ OSA. Cancer sucks and is completely unfair, and yeah, there is no one to blame or get mad at except those stupid little cancer cells. Our Abby has been a tripawd for 10+ months now and gets around amazingly well. Most folks we meet think she must have been born that way because she is so well adapted. I hope Misty will be the same. All the best for her surgery.

You've come to the right place, come here often with any questions or just when you need to vent and need some support. It's a great group of folks here.

All the best,
Jackie, Abby's mom

Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Tripawds blog, and a more detailed blog here. Please also check out my novel, What the Dog Ate. Now also in paperback! Purchase it at Amazon via Tripawds and help support Tripawds!

Welcome (again) to Tripawds Misty and pack.

I hope the surgery and recovery go well.

p.s. when Misty is healed up from her surgery you might keep an eye out for the Nor Cal Tripawd get together announcements.  We usually meet in Mill Valley- there is nothing like hanging out with a group of people who know what you are dealing with.  And the pups always  have a pretty good time too!

Welcome Misty and Mom,

So sorry you find yourself here again.  But it's going to be okay because that nasty painful leg will be gone!  Misty will do just fine!

I got a list of people you can be mad at!  Let's start with Kim Kardashian...for having sexy honeymoon pics on the cover of magazines at the checkout stand and reminding me that I don't look like Kim Kardashian in a bikini!! rasberry

Sending you lots of warm thoughts!

Misty is beautiful, she reminds me so much of my Winston. We considered limb sparing surgery but in the end opted for the amputation. Winston has been fantastic on 3 legs, he had an infection after the surgery but once he was over that he was running round as normal. It is amazing how well they adapt. Hope Misty's operation goes well, will be thinking of you both.

Winston started limping in Feb 11, diagnosed with osteosarcoma in his right front paw in March 11, amputation April 11. Six rounds of carboplatin. Diagnosed with HO and lung mets September 11.We sadly said goodbye on 24 May 12, sleep tight Winston dog xx
