Good morning. I’m new here and thankful to have found this informative group. My story: I arrived home from work early morning about 1am to my 2 cats greetings as usual. However, this morning I hear another distinct meow.. I’m listening and searching and much to my surprise I see through my back door a kitten crying. I open the door and immediately notice this little fur baby is injured. I bring her inside and see that she is unable to bear weight on her left front leg and her paw is very swollen. I clean and splint.bandage her left leg and paw assuming it’s broken. I feed her and make a comfy warm bed in a crate for her to rest. Moving forward, I take her to our vet and he immediately assesses her and diagnosis is radial nerve damage and his recommendation is amputation. He prescribed antibiotic and I take her home. I’ve continued to care for her and her injury while trying to save and raise the money needed for the surgery. She’s a beautiful sweet kitten I name “Moxie”. Over the past 2 weeks my other 2 cats have adjusted to her. My most senior cat seems to watch over her. I am hopeful Moxie will soon be able to get her surgery and will have a bright healthy life moving forward.

It's great your other cats are adjusting well to her. I hope she can have surgery soon. Be sure to check out our Tripawds ASAP Grant to see if you qualify for financial help (it's a reimbursement program for amputation surgery).

While I'm sorry this happened, extremely grateful that Moxie found uou....and that you found the support you will need fping forward here on this site.
Yes. hopefully you can get her pain j ser control and can get the surgery she needs. In addition to the link Jerry gave you to the Grant. mayve you can also find help from rescue groups who may have connections with low cost Vets for cases like this.

Jerry thanks for your response. The vet told me that due to radial nerve damage she has no feeling in the leg and therefore drags it and so amputation is recommended. He did not prescribe a pain medication. I’ll look into the grant, thank you!

thank you for your response. I am trying to save and raise via a GoFundMe acct the funds I need to get her the surgery. I look forward to reading more about tripawd pets and learning how to best help Moxie.
Ohh that's right about the radial nerve damage and pain, or lack therof. I've heard that said too. Makes sense.
