Dear Pookielocks:  I am new, too.  My 9 year old mixed breed (overweight because of a thyroid condition) had her back leg amputated on February 1.  Shock isn't even the word for it, is it?  Not to mention the feeling that you may have made the wrong decision.  However, it's February 15 and I can't wait to get home to see Sadie.  She'll be meeting me at the front door, tail wagging and happy as can be.  She's walking wonderfully and getting back to her old self.  It took about three days before she even attempted to get up by herself, but when she did, my whole house cheered her on.    Whatever you do, don't doubt yourself for one minute and always cheer her on.  She'll get along just great.  Can't wait to hear how she's doing in a couple more days.  You'll really be SHOCKED when you see her up on her own!

I guess I am in your situation a month ago. My rotweiller CJ is having surgery today to have her left front leg removed due to osteosacoma, I haven't slept and am scared to death for her, I too am wondering if I did the right thing, she is everything to me.

I hope you are your baby are doing well.

I saw CJ yesterday afternoon and spent 2 hours with her outside in the sun just cuddling and making a fuss of her. She was so happy to see me and totally became more alert and happier during the time I was there. We then fed her and she got up on her own without any prompting to eat and again she took a couple of steps as I left. I was so proud of her and will be bringing her home this afternoon.I will write more this weekend about CJ. Thank you for your support 🙂

I am also new, but have not done the surgery yet. I wanted a couple days to think about it after hearing the news that my sweet Hannah has Chondrosarcoma in her left hip. I am so scared I am going to make the wrong decision. I have been praying for guidance on it and am now leaning towards amputation. I cannot stand the thought of putting her down without trying. I have had her for 9 yrs so I just cannot bear not having her. She is my baby. After reading all the postings I am more encouraged than I was a couple days ago.

Just letting you know that I finally have my own sign in name and
account so I am the person who started this Chondrosarcoma in Hip post about my Hannah.

Thanks,

Joy
