Our hearts go out to you, we know that the loss of a best friend is unbelievably hard. But you did what you had to do because you were Buddy's champion, his advocate and his pawrent and you spoke his language. There is no more difficult decision than having to make that call, but it is also the most noble, one we reserve only for those we care the most about in this world.
Grieve as much as you need to, take whatever amount of time feels right. Then, eventualy you can try to focus on the good memories you shared. While it's nomal to recall those last difficult moments, try to take comfort in knowing that it's how humans process grief, and those sad memories will eventually give way to the happy ones you shared together. Whenever you find yourself becoming upset, try to replace that sad thought with a happy image of Buddy loving life to the fullest.
Buddy was and always will be a Tripawd hero. May his spirit live on forever and continue to inspire those who have the courage to live life on three legs.
Many, many hugs going out to you. We're here if you want to talk OK?

So sorry to hear of Buddys passing. This is the part of having animals that sucks. We've all been there to know what the pain is, and know it never gets easier. The way I have dealt with it is knowing I did what was best for the animal, not myself,at the time, no more pain or struggling, and I think they know we are trying to make them feel better. All he knew at the time is that you were with him when he went to sleep, so have comfort in knowing that he knew you were right there. I saw a saying not to long ago that really hit home, Pay attention to the small things today, they will become the big things down the road. It's amazing how remembering some little thing that our buddies did or how they did something will make us feel better, memories never change. we're with ya
My buddy Gus had a left front amputation on April 7, 2010 and lived a great life until July 26,2010
I am so very sorry to hear of your Buddy's passing. The most difficult part of being parents to our furkids is that most often they don't just pass away neatly. It has always been my fate to have to make that decision and hold them in my arms while they cross the Bridge to wait for us. It is the hardest thing to do but it is the last best thing we can do for them when they are ill or in pain. As their caretakers and best friends, it is up to us to provide them with that last loving act.
As so many have said, you will eventually remember all the good times and they will start to crowd out the tears. But until then, know that we all cry with you because we know how your heart hurts.
Hugs coming to you.
I'm so sorry to hear about Buddy. We're keeping you in our hearts at this difficult time. I know no words will help ease your pain, but please know that we are all here for you.
Hugs,
Holly and Holly's mom
Holly joined the world of tripawds on 12/29/2009. She has a big little sister, Zuzu, who idolizes Holly and tries to make all of her toys into tripawds in Holly's honor. And she's enjoying life one hop at a time!
