Hello, my name is Taylor and I am a new member here. My dog's name is Emma and I adopted her about six months ago. We live in Buffalo, NY. Our best guess is she is about 1.5 years old now. I got an Embark DNA test done on her and she is 43.9% Great Pyrenees, 28.6% Border Collie, 12.5% German Shepherd, 8.9% Boxer, and 6.1% Labrador Retriever (based on her appearance, I was very surprised she wasn't majority lab!).

They found her dumped on the street in Texas with her sister in January 2020.  When they found her, she had a nasty break of her femoral head in the left rear leg. It wasn’t a recent injury and was healing incorrectly, so they decided to amputate the leg in March. She has been doing great in her recovery because she is so young. Emma can run and jump up onto the bed. Her confidence has been growing more and more since I brought her home. I am so grateful to Flights to Furever and Nickel City Canine Rescue for saving her.

Emma has an instagram if you'd like to follow her adventures, tripawd_emma

Hi Taylor!  Welcome to the Tripawds family!  It sounds like Emma is doing great and she sure is lucky to have you!  I'm mamma to Griffin (Griffin's Journey), a 10-year old goldendoodle whose right forelimb was amputated in April due to osteosarcoma.  He has recovered remarkably well and continues to live his best life.  We have family in Buffalo, NY, so once things settle down with the pandemic and we are able to visit again, it would be fun to arrange a playdate for Emma and Griffin!  ~ Stacy

Griffin lived an amazing life for 11 years! Diagnosed with osteosarcoma on March 17, 2020, Griffin's right forelimb was amputated on April 2, 2020. Ten days later he was running and playing fetch! Lung metastasis discovered in July 2020 did not slow down Griffin and he lived joyfully for the next 7 months, passing peacefully at home on February 11, 2021. https://griffin.tripawds.com

I just looked at the delightful  pictures of your beautiful Emma and I am in loooove!!  She's  just adorable!  And someone  is a good photographer....the picture with her as the beautiful  sky in the background, and the one with the flowery tree in the background ...gorgeous!

She's quite the fashionista  with her cap and her fancy scarf.   Cute, cute, cute doggy!!

So glad she has such a loving furever  home with you♥️

We have tons of information  on here about how to keep a tripawd's joints and muscles fit.  Check out our e-books for ways to help protect  their legs.  Three Legs and a Spare has a lot of tips.

We look forward to hearing  more about Emma as she loves her glorious life on three with you♥️

Hugs

Welcome to the family Emma & Taylor. You are so adorable.

We are so hoppy you shared your story with us. What a story it is! Glad you're off the mean streets and in a loving home where you belong. You've got many great adventures ahead!

That would be so cool if you and other Tripawds could get together in the future. Here's that link to Tripawds Parties to get the planning underway at some point.
