So happy to find this website! We rescued Toby about 7 years ago. He was brought into our vets office with a crushed leg. His owners told the vet to put him down and left. Our vet did her best to save the leg but eventually it needed to be amputated. Our vet rehabilitates animals and puts them up for adoption to good homes. Toby spent several months recovering from his surgeries and looking for a forever home. We thankfully met up with the sweet guy. Lucky was found 5 years ago by Animal Control; he was just a puppy. His leg had either been broken or he had a congenital defect. Our vet amputated his leg and soon after he was part of the family. Toby and Lucky are best friends! They both are missing their front left legs. A year ago Toby had a spinal injury and his back legs were paralyzed. After a misdiagnosis by the emergency vet which delayed proper treatment, he had surgery and began his recovery. What a challenge for a dog that only had one working leg! He had swim therapy three times a week and acupuncture once a week. After 3 months he finally was strong enough to lift himself up to eliminate. That was a joyous day for everyone. He continues to improve 1 year later. He loves running up and down our steeply sloped back yard chasing squirels. Toby and Lucky constantly entertain us and are our sweet "babies." We are ALL lucky!
