I'll see if they'll let me bring a bed in for him. They have blankets, but that's not enough. I'll breather better once chemo is done, and hopefully his scans stay clear for a long time.

I  used to bring a bed in for Nitro when he would be there for a couple hours..I think that made a world of difference. 20+ years ago when my first Dobe had lymphoma, and would spend several hours at the vet for his chemo, I would bring his Westie brother with too, and he would sit in the kennel with him and keep him company.

Paula and Warrior Angel Nitro

Nitro 11 1/2  yr old Doberman; right front amp June 2014. Had 6 doses carboplatin, followed by metronomic therapy. Rocked it on 3 legs for over 3 years! My Warrior beat cancer, but couldn't beat old age. He crossed the Bridge peacefully on July 25, 2017, with dignity and on his terms.  Follow his blog entitled "Doberman's journey"

I wish he had a buddy to stay with him. Even if Riot was still here, he never would have been able to stay. Czar hasn't played with toys since we lost him, or I'd bring some in. I'll see how the next round goes. If it's rough like yesterday, we'll have to reevaluate the last two.

Awww Czar, I'm glad you're feeling better. Yes, laying in a steel crate all day can make even a healthy dog achy and blah. I know your momma will make sure that you get a more comfy arrangement next time!

He's at my parents' today. They say he's tired, but seems to be a lot less sore. We'll keep up on increased pain meds for another day or two.

Your parents are pretty awesome and in tune with him. I hope he continues the bounce-back!

They are awesome. I'm glad they're there for him to hang out with. Even though he just sleeps all day.

This won't help his physical comfort level, but whenever we have to board any of our dogs, I always send along a t-shirt that I have worn or that my husband has worn. Even if it was a towel that had your scent on it. They can get a sense of comfort just having something with them that smells like you.

Glad he is feeling a bit better today sp_hearticon2

Yes. I'll bring a shirt or something.

It turns out we're moving at work. That's okay, I got the permission to use vacation time for half days for a while. So, 5 weeks until puppies!

Thank you both. He's still a bit pickier eating than I'd like, but he's been mostly normal in attitude. Honestly, he's still got chub to lose, so I'm not too worried yet. He eats treats fine.

6 days post chemo, and Czar doesn't seem to have been effected by it very much. He had the bad first 24 hours, but I think that was more the  long day at the vet. We go back in two weeks for xrays and if they're clear, his 3rd round. I'm so hoping he's still visible cancer free. He's not showing any sick symptoms.

Thanks for the Czar update.  Soooo glad to hear he's past the "chemo slump".  Tough boy!.  Well loved boy!😊
