Congratulations cooper! Whoohoo!!!  I knew you could do it.  It's all punch and pie from here (or should I say ice cream amd cookies)  Keep us posted, but I have a feeling Cooper's gonna start doing a lot better now that he got that $h!t out of the way!

Hugs and sloppy Ranger and Spirit Sadie kisses,

Lisa, Ranger and spirit Sadie

Sadie is my 9yr old Rott/Shepherd mix. Diagnosed with osteosarcoma in her right scapula 1/28/10. Our brave girl had her amputation 2/13/10 and her last chemotherapy on 6/6/10. Unfortunately, a tumor appeared in her back right leg and on 10/7/2010 Sadie's earthly journey came to an end.  On 10/24/2010 we adopted Ranger, a handsome Rott/Lab mix tripawd (got hit by a car) I think Sadie sent him to us.

Hi Cooper

It sounds like you are doing OKay. Some dogs leap off the operating table as though nothing happened. Then there are us intransigent blocks of cement. Yep, I was one of those. But I did fine and had many times - it just took a bit more incentive during the first few weeks.

Visitors, rides to the park, my parents threatening to run over me if I did not get up (I don't think they really would have done that, but it was not worth lying around to find out!!). Those are the only reasons I was willing to budge in those early days. It was more like early weeks, not days.

Lucky you to have a rehab center to visit! It is still early days for you. Don't overdo it!

Being a newfie and lab, you must be a swimmer. Does the rehab place have a pool? That will be great once you get rid of those stitches.

Tazzie, your description fits me perfectly... intransigent block of cement! I was never a speedy dog anyway - which hinders me now cause I am learning I have to hop quickly not step slowly....SWIM???? did someone say SWIM\????? yes I swim - the first time mom and dad took me to the lake and wondered what I would do I just walked down to the beach and right out into the water went out 50 feet turned around and invited my pawrents in... they declined... I dont know why.... what does goofy dog its only 39 degrees mean anyway?? oh well - there loss . thanks for the encouragement everyone!!

Lookie there!  How handsome and tall...just like a real Gary Cooper!

Yippy Skippy!  Let's have a potty party!  Ice cream and peanut butter cookies (PBC's) are in order!  Oink! Oink!

Let's get to the business of healing now!  Some medicinal naps are in order!  But in no time Coop, you are going to learn the art of hopping and begging at the same time!   And don't forget to throw in prat falls that make Dad think you broke your nose!  Those are good for a treat and a hug!  Everyone comes running to your aid - it's great!

-Comet-

P.S. Oh Fortis, I knew you didn't mean "infamous" and were just finger happy from getting to your 500th post!  But no one else did and I wouldnt want them to think we were having a spat!   That Gayle is waiting in the wings to take my place as your best and #1 girl fan!

She departed us unexpectedly  January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.

She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.

Oh MY GOSH!

Hello Cooper and family!  I have been working so much the last couple of days that I haven't been on here for more than a minute.  I am shocked!  Sammy is a lab-newfie mix too.  They do look so much alike, wow!

What area of the country are you?  Sammy is from Washington State.  Where was his cancer in his leg?  How old is he?  I will have to look up your blog.  As always I must say that I am sorry you had to come looking for this information and this site, but welcome.

Diagnosed with osteosarcoma in the right front leg 8/23/10,

I couldn't begin to say how special Sammy is to us.  Living and laughing with and loving this wonderful boy is priceless.

Elizabeth and sammy, boy dont we look alike Sammy? I think its great! I am from Des Moines Iowa, dad drove all the way from Mount Pleasant to adopt me from a no kill shelter in Des Moines. He has always had shelter and rescue dogs. I will be 10 in January. The cancer was left front leg in the foreleg between wrist and knee - doctor said it didnt present like cancer at all - but sadly it was. It had eaten through one bone already. But I am doing fine now! thanks!

Here's to the Poopy Dance! Yeaaaaay!

We know exactly what you mean, you don't need to be shy here about bragging about poops and hops. Just watch where you roll on the ground with him after he goes 😉

If it makes you feel any better, my pawrents used to call me "Mister Stumbles" when I was first learning how to get around as a Tripawd.

Here's to another great day tomorrow, and many, many more to come.

Hey Cooper and Dad,

Happy first poop day!!  Gives me a reason to break into the halloween candy tonight.

Great pics of Cooper.  I have to tell you (I told Elizabeth this about Sammy earlier) that pics of Cooper just give me chills- he looks so much like a newfie- something mix I had years ago named Bo-dog. One of these days I'll dig though my old photos and post a pic of him- but it was waaaay back in the film camera days.  I must admit I am a bit partial to the black pups... there was Bo, Mag was a  black pug, and my two pugs now are black (but they are the funny quad type pugs).

I'm glad to hear that Coop is making progress- you are doing a great job.  Keep it up and before you know it the old Coop will be back with you and you will be amazed that you were ever worried.

Dear Cooper and Dad,

I am a bit late coming to the Cooper party, but just in time...for the POOP DANCE!!!! Congrats on that!!!

I remember waiting for JD's first post-op 'deposit'. Three days I think, but WOW when she finally did go it was the biggest poop ever!!! Ah the simple things in life!!!

So a warm welcome, it seems you are surviving the post-amp period and it will only get better.

Now let me say, I know Sammy, and you two do look an awful lot alike. Even the smile is similar smile
