We hopped in the pickup and headed over to pick up our plants this afternoon. That single Daisy blossom, standing tall and beautiful, greeted us again. Walked past it, stopped, turned around, scooped it up and brought it home... just couldn't leave it there.
We'll figure out a special place in the garden where it's easily visible and watch it grow. We want to enjoy it for a long, long time!
Yes, you couldn't just leave that little Daisy there all be itself. It needed to be rescued and given a loving furever home!!😉 Besides, it's a beautiful Daisy, just like Miss Daisy
Love how Rosy decides which toy deserves her undivided attention for the day or at least for the moment.. Miss Daisy and Miz Blossom know their how to get the TOTD....it just depends on how badly they want any toy the other one may have!
Thanks for rescuing daisy plant 💖

Well, well now, ain't we something! All this and that AND a bucket of Boneless Chicken!!
Not too long ago, the old man shared how much we weighed, in this very forum, pretty close to...like a TON!!!
We noticed that the treats were not as plentiful as before, and we were able to finish our breakfast and dinner a lot quicker than we used to. We took our concerns to mom and she said, check with your dad. Soooo, that didn't work. We tried sitting with them as they ate and put on our saddest, most forlorn, poor, poor, pitiful me faces and that didn't work.
Since we're almost 2 years old now, we just delt with it. The next day, they lassoed poor Daisy. Lured her into the car and took her to the local home and garden, ranch store where they had like live Rooster's crowing! She's never heard a Rooster before! Man, they are loud!! There were forklifts everywhere and people buying bales of hay, trucks driving in and out! Sheer Pandemonium at 8 in the morning!
She bravely stepped out of the car with her head hung low and headed towards the "dreaded scale". It was just inside that awful sliding door. She stepped on the scale and waited...66 pounds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SHE LOST 16 POUNDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! From 82 to 66 pounds! With new enthusiasm she jumped off that scale and strutted out that sliding door, gliding, feet barley touching the ground as she made her way back her awaiting chariot!
ROLLED ALL THE WINDOWS DOWN so everyone on the "parade route" home could wave and take her picture!!
When we got home, Blossom knew what was in store for her. She Hippity Hopped to her preferred ride and waited patiently as we hopped in and took off. She'd been to the home and garden, ranch store with the Roosters, rabbits, Hamsters and pickups and tons of folks bustling around. She calmly waited as I opened her door. She paused for a moment, then we were through the sliding door, making sure that a sufficient amount of people were watching as she hopped on. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!SHE LOST 8 POUNDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!She was at 61 and now she's in at 53 pounds!
We alerted the local TV and Radio Stations; they declined to cover her homecoming journey. That's OK, she KNOWS she's a Princess and that's all that matters.
The Vet Doc called us and said, good job! Between you and me, I think we deserved a GREAT JOB!
WOW! You absolutely deserve a pawrade and national coverage, that is one incredible weight loss you two gorgeous gals! I know that wasn't easy but dang you look really good and I'll bet you feel a lot better when you're racing around the yard eh?
Jack and Cindy pawsome work on that program. What did you guys do differently to help slim them down?
Thanks, we got the girls at 4 months old. Not having had a puppy since 1977, we followed the breeder's advice and continued using the puppy food they recommended.
Talking with our vet about when to change to adult food, he agreed with switching them at 1 year old. It's the same brand, just adult versus puppy. The amount of food was different. We're feeding them about 2/3rds of what they got as puppies.
Treats are less, same frequency, but smaller portions.
They look great and on some days they're hard to keep up with. Dusty and the girls play a bunch, inside and outside, rolling around, growling at each other. Blossom is the instigator. Daisy is the one that decides who chases who, usually, Dusty chases Daisy and Blossom chases both of them. When we let the girls out the front door, they take off, running side by side, bumping and growling down the block to see Jim and Carrie. They stay for about minute then turn around and head back to the house.
Rosy looks on like "do you see what I HAVE to put up with, every day?"
We have been taking the girls out into the world separately.
Daisy has been really good about not going potty in the car. So, her trips are getting longer every time we take her out.
Sonoma County and the town of Sebastopol have created a series of paths that are well cared for called the "Laguna De Santa Rosa Trails" They're open for bicycles, walkers, dogs, horses and bird watchers. The area was apple orchards and a series of small creeks and open public land. They have 4 different walks available, due to the rain last week, 10 inches in ONE DAY, 3 are closed.
Daisy made her first trip there earlier this week. We didn't know how she would do...open trails, tons of new smells, natural paths, some dirt, some man-made bridges and tons of birds. At first, she was a bit timid, so she sniffed, looked around, looked at us, raised her head and tail and set a good pace and really enjoyed herself. We covered the shortest path in about a half hour. She was having a blast!
When we got home, Dusty, Rosy and Miz Blossom, "the terrible three", gave her a good sniff all over! Then she hit the water bowl and promptly took a nap!
Today was her second trip. Same loop but we reversed the direction we walked. She jumped out of the car, sniffed around, took a dump, with head and tail up, she took off truckin! Several more people and dogs were out today. Warm sunshine, a quick pace, we worked up a bit of a sweat!
It hard to put into words how proud of her we are. She's come a long way! She looked like, hey, I got this, just try and keep up!
Thanks for the details on how you helped them drop the weight. That makes total sense, puppy food is super high calorie. We haven't had a puppy since Jerry so very likely would have done what you did at first. I'm so happy that their diet changes were easy on everyone.
That's pretty cool about Daisy. Taking her out separately is a huuuuge confidence booster! I never would have thought about doing something like that. But then again I've never had more than one dog at a time either. There's so much to learn with one, you and Cindi are doing an incredible job adapting to all four of their personalities and needs! You're clearly doing something very right!
Geez, just catching up on everything! Between the site being down and my tablet being broken for a while I didn't get to see all the Great Adventures of everybody .I have gone back and reread your posts and, as alway, so enjoy the way you inject fun updates and information and, of course, adorable pictures.
I'll just say congratulations on the weight loss challenge, the way you have helped Daisy become the strong, confident and outgoing puppy she was born to be, etc etc
Merry Christmas to all your crew,, including the humans!

The rain stopped, the fog lifted, Daisy, Cindi and I headed downtown. She did so well at the Nature Preserve and getting her weight checked at Western Farms, we felt she was ready for the traffic noise and a lot of people. 10 minute ride and we were there. Found a parking place close by, we hopped out and started on our adventure.
The first thing we did was let her look around, nose in the air, tail not tucked between her legs, she started walking. Slowly at first, nose to the ground, taking in ALL of the new smells, she kept walking. Tail came up, she was fine. Horns honking, bicyclists going by, delivery trucks stopping, other dogs. We found a bench to sit in close to a crosswalk. A couple zeroed in on her and walked over... I said, she's still pretty nervous, so they told her what a good looking girl she was and walked on.
About every 15 minutes of so, we get up and move. Sometimes walking around the block to get to our next bench. Her pace picked up a bunch, head was up and she started to relax. We'd walk her close to trees, trash bins, bushes, parking meters any obstacle we saw to get her used to it. She doesn't like walking over anything other than grass, concrete or dirt. So anytime we saw any surface she wasn't comfortable on, we walked on it. Steel plates, grates, sometimes it took a couple of tries, but she was about 90% successful!
We were there for about an hour and 15 minutes...she did GREAT! If there was an In and Out close by, we would have had ice cream on the way home!
The "terrible 3" gave her a good going over when she got home. After that, a quick drink of water, then she hopped on the couch and took a nap!
You and Cindi have done such a remarkable job in bringing Daisy out of her shell, building her confidence and making her feel secure.
Your patience and your understanding of who she is and how she rolls really has paid off!
That picture... oh my gosh! She is so pretty and so cute! Not to mention growing up so fast! Have a very Merry Christmas and safe holiday with the pups ♥️
