We decided to restart our Comfort, Social, Therapy Dog work. In order to do that, we need a dog that can pass all the tests.
We decided to find a Golden Retriever. Looked through several Golden rescues and made contact with them. Most of them emailed me telling me, oh, dogs been placed, we just didn't see your request. 2 had dogs that had been returned to them for various reasons, we didn't hear back from either of them.
I haven't purchased a dog from a breeder since 1977. We swore we wouldn't buy from a breeder. Oh well.........
Went to the AKC anyway in search of a young Golden. If we were buying from a breeder, we wanted one that has a conscience and was concerned about the quality of the dogs. We found him. When we told him why we needed a Golden, he asked what Comfort Social Therapy Dog work was, so we sent him Shelby's Blog. After a ton of texting and talking back and forth, we were convinced he was the one. He said, "If you take my baby girl, I have an amazing surprise for you."
We met him yesterday and his 4 month old baby girl stole our hearts. He covered all the AKC paper work with us, Cindi signed the paperwork, we paid him. He grabbed his keys and told us to follow him. About 20 minutes later, he pulled into a driveway and headed for the back yard. We met the lady who lived there and within a couple of minutes he walks up to us and says "here, this is your surprise."
He was carrying a 4 month old Golden TRIPAWD, missing her right front leg. I immediately had tears in my eye's, Cindi did to. He said, "When we saw the work Shelby and you did, we knew you needed to have this dog." I told him, we didn't bring any extra money to pay for her. They said that she was a gift from them to us! What a Blessing!
After about 20 minutes, Cindi said, hey, it's a buy one get one free! I'm holding Blossom, the TRIPAWD, and Cindi is holding Daisy.

Wow! What an amazing story. Shelby at work for sure.
It just seems that the right dogs find us... no matter how you are looking! Plus you have brought home a kind of fountain of youth....they will keep you (or make you!) young.

It's been a little less than a month since we were adopted by Daisy and Blossom, it's amazing how quickly they're growing. Our house has been turned upside down.
Took them to our vet for a good look over. They're as healthy as can be. The nurses came back for Blossom a second time... The vet said, don't worry, they're getting their puppy fix for the day!
Blossom is criminally sweet; she just oozes charm. I can't see a time when someone looks at her and doesn't smile. She also is the first to get in Dusty's face. Chases him around the back yard and every time he stops, she does a wheelie and right back in his face! Frustrates poor, poor Dusty!
Daisy is already bigger than Rosy...and Rosy's not happy about it. She was not ready for new dogs to come into her house! Still a bit of growling happening. She "almost" played ball with Daisy once. It'll take time, but it's worth it.
Daisy's a lover, she'll be a great Social, Therapy Dog. She'll sit right beside you, lay in your lap or lean on you. She has a sweet, friendly face, brown eyes and black nose. She's a bit reserved, which I think will be a help with older folks and young kids.
We start obedience training in a few weeks, gonna be fun!
Hahaha....Daisy's a lover and Blossom's criminally sweet! Love the descriptions!😎
So interesting to read about the differences in the elements that make up their individual bersonalities
And the pictures....definately CUTENESS OVERLOAD! To scroll up to the very first gotcha' picture and then to see them rogether a month later....quite a difference.
Dusty and Rosy are good role models for these two....even of Rosy is taking her time warming up to these two ADORAVLE puppers. Roxy's thought bubble: "You said you were bringing home ONE puppy...And you brought home TWO' Hoomand are crazy''
So enjoyed the updates....especially the pictures👍.
Hugs

To 2 little dogs, it's BIG world out there!
They're a bit "concerned" getting in the car. Could it be my driving? Cindi sits with them in the back seat and that helps. Blossom has and will throw up. Hopefully this will go away as she gets older.
When we get there, Daisy's a bit apprehensive but hops out. Blossom's really not sure what to do, so we help her out. By then Daisy occupied sniffing the ground and such and Blossom joins right in.
After they have looked around, size everything up, they calm down a bit more. We're having a really hard time getting both of them to walk with a leash. When the see the leash, they freeze. Never had dogs do that before.
We put one of their towels in the shopping cart yesterday, that helped. After they were in the cart for a few minutes they relaxed. They were very accepting when folks would come over to pet them.
They're better every time we take them out, so, well keep exposing them to new places and people.
P.S. I THINK that Blossom WANTS Daisy to exit first. That way people have to wait for Blossom to appear!
