Well, it's been far too long since I've checked in with the tripawds family and I sincerely wish it was an all-positive-all-the-time reunion!  Some of you may remember my fiesty little redhead, Hurricane Rosie. She became a tripawd as a pup and has been an excellent ambassador for 3-legged superiority!  On the positive side - Rosie is GREAT!  Still going strong, still swims like a fish and bosses her brothers around. She is seven now and still a fiesty little redhead.  http://hurrican.....pawds.com/

Unfortunately, her "little" brother, Astronaut (6.5 y/o great dane, adopted by us 2.5 years ago) developed a limp in the last few days and it appears he has developed osteosarcoma in the top of his right humerus. We are currently waiting on a second vet to check out his x-rays, but all signs point toward a soon-to-be tripawd and the start of a new struggle.  Last year, Astro had 3 emergency surgeries over the course of 4 months (gastric torsion, repair of botched surgery and removal of torn spleen, and then colonic torsion. Basically, he's stapled stem to stern internally now. He's been great for the last 6-7 months and is a total toy hound, love bug. We have another appt monday, but I'll start another thread as we develop a treatment plan.  For now, just wanted to re-introduce the family and say that I've never been more grateful that this community exists!

How wonderful that Rosie is doing so well!   And sorry to hear about Astronaut (who is beautiful, by the way).   Sounds like he has already been through so much!   Welcome back to the family (not that you ever truly left), although I wish it was for other reasons.

Otis - 106 pound lab/Dane mix, lost his right front leg to osteosarcoma on Febuary 9, 2016.  Four rounds of carboplatin completed in April, 2016.  Lung mets August 25, 2016.  Said goodbye too soon on September 4, 2016.   Lost his adopted sister, Tess, suddenly on October 9, 2016. likely due to hemangiosarcoma.

Wherever they are, they are together.

But oh man I hope that Astro really doesn't have osteo. Sounds like it's almost for sure but we'll keep hoping it's something else. And yep he's so gorgeous by the way! You need anything at all, you just holler OK?

HA! Looks like Wyatt is just as much trouble as ever, too!  Hard to believe how the years fly by.... Far too quickly, it sometimes seems.
