That's awesome that he made it down the stairs OK and that he wants to be with everyone! Sebastian was a little skittish after his surgery too...I got the impression it was because he couldn't get away from whatever "scary" thing there was as fast as usual. I could be wrong but it made sense at the time! He felt better pretty quickly though.
Enjoy the cuddles
Downstairs? On the bed? PAWESOME! This is great!
All Tripawds need a little help at first, he'll get stronger and stronger and before you know it he'll be getting up there without a problem. If you have anything you can put near the bed that he can use, a footstool or ottoman or something, he'll likely try to use it.
Sounds like his alone time on Passover went well too? Yay!

Second tour downstairs....
I put him on our bed and he snuggled up for quite some time. He got down off the bed all by himself! I ran to the store and got another liter box for down stairs, so if he goes up, he has one and if he stays down he has one. He does not care for me 'helping' him, so he has decided to stay on the floor in our room in between two closets, it is safe and I put his cozy bed there for him. The back door was open and he stood near the door sniffing, but decided not to go out, I was relieved. He has been eating quite well and I hope he does fatten up, at least what he lost at the hospital.
Today is one week post op, simply amazing!!!!
Thank you ALL for the well wishes and good thoughts.
Congrats on the one week ampuversary! Now THAT is progress!
Good idea to have the two litter boxes.

Yay Cashie!!!!! Keep in showin em how it's done!!!!!!
Jill is a 9-year-old tuxedo kitty. She was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma in June 2012 on her toe in her right hind leg. Her leg was amputated on 12/12/12 and she completed four rounds of chemo (2 of Carbo, 2 of Doxy) in April 2013. I took him in for the removal of his stitches, per the instruction of the person who reviewed his discharged paperwork, on Friday. Turns out that he has absorbing stitches...so, the doctor looked him over since I came all that way and said he looks great and is doing well! Which was welcome news!! On Saturday he looked like he was going to climb up on my chair to get onto the bed, which is a great solution. Getting up on the bed is TOUGH for his weary body, so I make sure that the chair is in the correct position for him to climb up.
So it seems he has diarrhea and I noticed a sore on his right hind leg, on a bald patch. I do not remember seeing this before and I don't think it has anything to do with his initial injury. He is still eating quite well. But I am concerned, but I do worry a lot. I am going to keep a close eye on his overall mood and how he moves around.
Thank you all so much for the support, what a great community.
Yay for the good report card Cashie!
Keep a watchful eye on that sore spot, I'm sure it's nothing serious. Don't work too hard at getting up and about to your perches, your people are more than willing to help you and make it easy. Let 'em spoil you!

Getting on the bed even with the chair is difficult and he will give up and settle for a cozy bed on the floor. This worries me...we are 2 weeks today post op, it seems his world is, at least for today, quite small. We will take it one day at a time.
Thanks again for the kind words!!
Two weeks in the big picture is just a smidgen of time. We all have off-days, especially during surgery recovery. Hopefully that's just why he didn't want to climb up.
Let us know how today went.

I wouldn't panic about him choosing the floor over jumping onto the bed. Obviously keep watching - momma knows best! But, for comparison, Sebastian wasn't even allowed to jump or climb on anything for at least 3 weeks per vet's orders. When he finally was released for normal activity, he chose to avoid some things for a while. Now he is doing a lot of things like he used to but modified - rather than jump straight up/down from something, he will use whatever furniture is available to assist him.
Also remember that cashie is going to have to develop extra muscle in his remaining hind leg. There's a LOT of muscle in a cat's back legs!! Maybe he is sore for that reason? Sebastian is a front amp but even he is having to do some strength training
And of course cashie is a little older so he might require some more time to recover and get back to his old self!
Three weeks post op! Wow!!!
The other day he shot right out the front door! He hung out on the front porch, did some sniffing, got under the porch and explored the yard for a few minutes and then came on in. I was so pleased for him.
The sore on his leg seems to be healing up nicely, and frankly, it is more of a bald patch. His fur is growing back, too. It is amazing!
Yay for lucky week Number 3!
He's as zippy as ever it sounds like. Now, how about some pix of that handsome boy?! We want pix! We want pix!
Here are instructions for adding photos but if you need help just holler and PM me.
