I have been following Gizmo's story.  Please don't put a time limit on her. Let Gizmo's quality of life guide you.  Just a question- is she on an antihistamine? Benadryl/ diphenhydramine?   What I learned with my Jake is that the antihistamine tries to keep the tumor cells in check. I also found out too late that the antihistamine should be used prior to any biopsy or surgery to decrease the release of MCT. Live in the moment! Are these new tumors cutaneous (on the surface), if so they may not be as invasive.  Please do your research. I am not a vet but I can only tell you what I learned about the antihistamine from two out of three vets- one at a well known oncology center( we drove an hour and 1/2 daily for 3 weeks for radiation when the MCT 1st reared it's ugly head, the second from out VCA hospital. Jake did get a happy healthy extra 4 years after 1st treatment.  Don't throw in the towel.

Here's a link to get you started. It's to a boxer (MCT are pretty common in boxer dogs) site that has info on Benedryl & Tagament. Lots of great testimonials from various breeds. You should take a look!

We are filled with overwhelming sadness today.  Gizmo went peacefully this afternoon. She was our heart and will be missed greatly.   Thank you all for your loving and kind words of support, it helped tremendously.

Ohhhhh nooooo! I'm really really sorry to hear that, my heart aches for you, what a great loss. If you want to talk about it we are here for you OK?

You gave Gizmo a great life, no dog could ever ask for a better human. Now that she is an angel, remember that she is free to be by your side for all time, her beautiful spirit will always be in your presence and all that you do in this life. It's a bond that can never dissolve.

So hard to hear this, so very, very hard. I was soooo hopeful. I'm so very sorry.

We all cry with you tonight and our hearts are heavy.

I know the hurt...so many of us know the hurt....and it does not go away...it lessens, but it doesn not ever go away. That's one reason I hope you stay connected tonus, especially now. You and Gizmo are family. We love him too. And we understand the depth of bond..and the depth of loss...like no others can. We cheer for each other, and we grieve with each other.

Gizmo, cute adorable, feisty Gizmo lived a life that mattered! He mattered to us and to everyonenwho had the honor of meeting him. Just seeing his avatar picture made us all smile! And no one can take the smiles he gave us away!

Gizmo was loved...and spoiled...every second of his life! Just as you felt privileged to have him in your life, he felt just as privileged to have you in his.

I'm going to go find a couple of things that have been posted that, hopefully, will bring you some comfort during this seemingly unbearable time.

I'll be back in a minute........

I’m gonna try and paste what that Sage Jerry said about the blink m of an eye……it’s very important……

Always remember, his last day with you is a blink, a spec in time, it cannot outshadow all of the good times you shared. Those beautiful moments of his life as a happy, healthy and active dog are so powerful, so filled with love, that they will always light up your world more than the dark times. Remember those moments when you start to feel down and you can get through this

You'll walk around in circles for awhile, forgetting to eat, wondering why the world is till turning when yours just stopped. Gizmo knows you'll be sad, but he wants you to remember all the wonderful joyous times he had with you...all those times he wagged his tail just because you looked at him ir because you said his name. What else made his tail wag like crazy? Close your eyes and think about what made him just wiggle with glee.......that's it....that's the memory that will keep you connected to Gizmo! It makes him happy to see you rmember him with a smile.

Gizmo is probably causing a big ruckus at the Bridge tonight. Hesw feeling soooo good! I understand each newcomer gets steak and ice cream upon their arrival...and not necessarily in that order!

We are here for you. Lean on us, we'll help you stand.

Surrounding you with love and Gizmo's delightful little kisses andnhis eternal grace

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife
