I have just been reading the update on Lola.  I am so happy she seems to have gotten through a difficult stage of her recovery.

I feel the same about the recovery process as it’s been such a hard process but it is also a special process that does make your bond even stronger.

I completely understand about the set backs and the stress of the recovery process.  My dog and I had some serious set backs during the recovery process and he is back to his normal happy self just like I know Lola is going to be soon.  Keep up the good work!

I'm not crying, you are!!! Ya'll, those last couple of posts got me right in the feels!!! THANK YOU so much for your kind words, praises and encouragement! They truly mean EVERYTHING!!!

After I made my last post, I may have jinxed myself a bit. Lola had a rough day Thursday. She seemed to be doing good in the morning and then come early afternoon it was all down hill. She was trembling horribly, panting, pacing, couldn't get comfortable. So, I did what I could. I iced her, I sat with her, I used heat. She calmed after a little while and by that time, it was time for her next dose of meds. She slept for about 3-3 1/2 hrs and in the middle of her sleep, she began the trembling all over again. It was now later evening. Too early to give any more meds and I was in tears. I couldn't help her, watching her tremble was tearing my heart out, so, I called Cornell. Thinking I would end up getting the emergency line due to what time it was, but I was SO relieved when I was able to get through the the surgical team. I spoke with one of the surgeons, voiced my concerns and told them I didn't think the gaba was working well enough. They asked my to bring her up Friday morning so they could check her out.

We went up Friday morning, and everything was good. Her incision looked great, no signs of infection, minimal swelling. They were very pleased with it and they gave me Pregabalin, THANK GOD!!!!

Since she has been taking that, NO MORE TREMBLINGsmiley4smiley4

I had begun giving her half of her dose of Trazadone in the morning because between that and the pain meds, she was so sedated and so wobbly any time she tried to get up, but the surgeon told me she wanted me to go back to giving her the full dose to keep her sedated so she wasn't up and about so much. Which, I totally understand. She needs to rest to heal. So, new pain meds, back on the full dose of Trazadone and she seems to be doing great!!!!

Wednesday is her post op! Hopefully, stitches will come out!

Stay tuned sp_hearticon2

Very happy to see an update on Lola and glad it seems you have gotten some more good medications for her.

I completely understand the stress that comes with the setbacks in recovery.  My only advice is to just keep moving forward the best you can and know that it seems like there are always set backs in this recovery process but usually you get through them with time and patience.

The day stitches were removed on my dog was such a big milestone in our recovery.  I can’t wait to hear about it.

OH wow that's a rough ride! Yikes! But I'm soooooooo happy the Pregabalin is working. Hopefully you found the right balance between that and the Traz to help her heal.

Please let us know how Wednesday goes. And consider getting a rehab therapy evaluation for her too OK? Sounds like she could really benefit from an assessment and the folks at Cornell should be able to refer you to their team.

Glad the Pregabalin  made such a notice difference!👏👏👏   Once she can get off the Trazodone I think yiu'll realky see progress.

Stitch removal day requires drive thru cheeseburger and French fries on the way home!😎  Maybe Lola will let you have some of her fries!
