NO! I am so heartbroken for you. I know you tried everything! It is so sad, really really sad. I so wish it could have had a happy ending and you could have brought her home and given her a little more time to soak up all that love.

I hope you take comfort in knowing she is no longer in pain. Sometimes it is all we can do.

Active 10+ Pyr mix suddenly came up lame with ACL tear in left rear leg. Scheduled for a TPLO but final pre-op x-rays indicated a small suspicious area, possibly OSA, which could have caused the ACL tear. Surgeon opened the knee for TPLO but found soft bone. Biopsy came back positive for OSA. Became a Tripawd 9/18/14. Carbo6 with Cerenia and Fluids. Pain free and living in the moment. Crossed the Bridge on 7/12/15 after probable spread of cancer to her cervical spine. A whole lifetime of memories squeezed into 10 months. Here's her story: Eloise

Kate,

I am so so sorry.  I am shocked as heck.  You thought you were doing the best thing that you could for your girl.

RIP Prudence.  Fly free and meet up with our Angels who will welcome you with open paws.   I know this is no help right now but rest assured she is pain free and healthy and will meet you again soon.  She is also with your husband who met her there.

hugs

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

Hi Kate, we met in chat tonight. I just want to say again how sorry I am for your loss! I feel like I just got sucker-punched from just reading your story, I can never imagine what YOU are feeling. Just know that you've found a family here at Tripawds, and we will always be here for you at this most difficult time and try to help you through this.

paula and nitro

How devastating. After all the pain of the diagnoses and decision-making we never expect this to happen. May Pru always remain in your heart.

My heartfelt condolences,

Kerren

Kate emailed me this lovely picture of Prudence. This certainly shows a happy and joyful girl.....not to mention beautiful!

Prudence has touched us all deeply Kate, as has your love for her. She has been your partner, your friend, your family, your soulmate and your protector. Pru had a very special mission and that was to be your "personal cupid" who to bring you and your husband together. I'll let you explain that when you are ready! This girl.played a lot of important roles in your life!

And she is still with you, still being your Guardian, just from a different location.

Your grief will be too strong for you to feel her presence right now. I'm afraid as bad as it is, it even gets worse before it gets better. The void, the emptiness will seem unbearable. But you will bear it. It will hurt, but you will bear it because you have Pru's legacy to carry forward. You have a story to share of a delightfully quirky girl who was soooooo devoted to you. Yes, she was your husband -to- be dog first, but she picked you for him! I do hope you'll share that story when you are ready.

No regrets Kate! You did EVERYTHING possible to give your girl a chance! You would jave doubted yourself forever had you not tried. Yes, you were forced into this situation because of her broken leg, but, even then, you still had an extra day or two together while waiting for the surgery. As we talked avout, every single precaution that could be taken was taken. The surgeons did everything possible to ensure she would make it.

Prudence felt like her mission in her earth clothes was complete. She didn't feel @ike she needed to stay for anymore loving and spoiling because you gave her enough of both for an eternity. She decided it was her time and released herself from this life willingly and without pain. She waited for you to be by her side for that last heartbeat. She knew you needed that.

When your husband knew she was coming to the Bridge to be reunited again he must have nearly gone bonkers with jou! I can just imagine how she raced up to him on all four legs fit and strong and put those big ole paws up on his shoulders and kissed him non stop! I'm sure she told him some of the kisses were from you!! Your U cle was there too! Maybe he stayed a little bit in the background so Lru wouldn't knock him down!!

Dear sweet Kate, stay connected to us, lean on us. We understand like no others can. We are all family here.
Prudence will never be forgotten! And goodness knows she lived a life of meaning! She has touched all of us deeply.

Surrounding you with Prudence's eternal grace...and happy smiles
