NOVA UPDATE: She's doing well today. Mom and Doug were up all night watching her trying to figure out the best position for her to lay. Other then that she's using her legs and Doug holds her up and she walks. I think Doug is gonna work from home this week to watch her.  Doug's friend Ed is gonna come over and take her for a walk to pee in the yard and mom's  putting cold compresses on Nova's wounds to help with swelling. I think even mom is surprised how well she's doing other then her meds making her sleepy and helping her deal with the pain I'm sure she's in. Mom and Doug are heavily reading that book got them they are learning a ton. The music you hear in that video mom always plays for Nova it's puppy music it helps calm her and it's hilarious she will sleep with one eye open cause of the dog on the TV hahaha  but the music helps her rest and sleep. Moms been playing music for the animals for yrs even gave her tablet to the Guinea pig so he could have tunes while he sleeps if she needs to step out lol

Haha.... love that Nova shares her call me puppy music with a guinea pig. Adorable! Yes, it sounds like things are going really well. It's not unusual for a dog to be a little Restless trying to get the best position to sleep. Sometimes if they are used to normally sleeping on the incision side, they will have to adjust to sleeping on the other side for a while if the incision is still sore. Goodness knows, Novs  is being well cared for, well loved and certainly will spoiled..... as it should be.😉

Hugs

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!

Awww sweet girl! She looks really rested and tired, but in a way that says she's mending.

That's so nice that Doug will be there to take care of her! And really great that she is allowing the icing, many dogs don't tolerate that really well, which is a bummer because it's so helpful for reducing swelling.

We play calming music for our Nellie too!

I hope you're feeling just as restful as she looks! Go Team Nova! smiley_clap

She's super spoiled in fact my mom was like "hope you don't need me for the next few days I'm exhausted" I'm like nope I'm good. The doc I think wants her up every three hours to use her legs. My mom just tells her mommy's helping her and she applies the compresses I think Nova enjoys them their probably soothing. I might go visit later this week not sure yet

Wow she's up every three hours? No wonder your mom is exhausted. Yikes! That's an unusual request by a vet, usually they only need to get up is for potty breaks.

I hope you get to see her soon!

Yeah, agree with Jerr.  That's  a lot of movement  this early  on.

So maybe double check with the vet if there was a particular special reason he was requesting that. Otherwise, just let her rest and try and space getting her up pretty much only for potty breaks at this point. But again, check with the vet.

Yea just to have her stand every three hours during the day to strengthen her legs. Other then that she sleeps and rests and we sit with her and talk to her etc cater to her every need . I'm here with her I'm on Nova duty tomorrow for an hour or so while mom runs errands. She's sooo alert she stood for me when I came in.

To stand up tp greet you is SPECTACULAR!!   I k ow that made you feel so good.....and probably  made her happy too to greet her beloved hooman♥️

Somporing pics of Nova's incisions.  Refresh my memory,  why was the lump removed above her tail?  Looks like it might hurt her butt to wag her tail til the stirches are out.  Ouch!

Other photo is amputation  incision.

And or course, we have to have a "mug shot" of her pretty face😊

Her tail still goes a million times an hour lol she still wags it like normal. The mass removed above her bum was a mass that we all thought it was fat but the clinic re tested it and conformed that it was cancer so that's why it was removed. Nova's now sleeping. She stands well to get up to go to bathroom breaks. Doug talked to the surgeon he was very pleased how well Nova is healing. Her fur is soft and fluffy the shaved patches which I can't help laugh cause they look like they shaved patterns or shapes in. Nova lol but her fur is starting to grow back.

Oh that cutie pie! She is adorable.

I'm sorry the butt lump was cancer. Ugh! At least that little beast is gone now and she can start healing.

Her fur is already growing back? WOW! She is even more amazing than we all thought. Pretty cool!

Yea it's pretty funny the patches they shaved looked like they all failed dog shaving 101 in school cause there's a square on her bum and around her neck that whole area is zigzag lol and the fur that it growing back feels like a brush cut lol. She stands when she wants to sometimes unassisted other then us getting her up to stand to. Strengthen her legs we gotten her to take a few steps here and there and there are a few she's taken on her own aside from walking to go out to go. pee and poopie in the yard and she's learnt to bring her back legs down and the brace with her front leg to lower herself so she doesn't just drop. We were very surprised she started doing that on her own. Mom was amazed a few nights back mom was reading your book which she refers to as the Bible and she glanced over and Nova was standing on her own a bit wobbly. My mom assists her onto the couch were she's learnt to move closer to one side so she can look out the window better lol till she heals. She tried barking at dogs going by her bark is still horse but it will go back to normal. Today was a lazy day for Nova. She had visitors yesterday during the morning so when I came at night she was happy to see me at night but she knows her current limits but boy does that tail go a hundred miles an hour. She had an apple snack it was funny mom cut it for her but she kept asking for something till I noticed mom never cut the core properly once I recut her apple she devoured it. She had a few whiny noises at bedtime but since Doug brought the guest mattress from that bed upstairs they all slept together Nova slept soooo soundly. This morning not one peep not one yelp. We had a good lazy day. Oh and today was the first time she was able to lick her back paws mom was surprised she was able to do that.

Sssh, don't tell Nova that she got student dog groomers working on her! LOL!

It's pretty awesome she is moving around so well. Like most dogs she will probably try to do too much too soon. You guys are doing a great job keeping an eye on her though, I'm confident she will have a safe, restful recovery.

I love that she eats apples! What a good girl.

Tell your mom we said "THANKS!" How sweet of her to say that about Three Legs and a Spare !

I will she's really enjoying the book. The last few days I'm getting "The book says we need to do this" it's nice. Yea about 98% of her day is sleeping and.rest cause she is still on a bunch of meds they see the doc Feb 24. Student groomers awww. Lol but yea Nova is a very fast learner and on the flip side milking every ounce of love out of us lol. And I swear if I had my phone handy I would have filmed it mom's trying to entertain her lol by using a few of Nova's toys as a puppet show I personally think the dog thinks mom's lost it lol but it was pretty funny.

Feb 15th Nova Update today I did a surprise visit to Nova and she was laying down and she rolled over and got up and walked with the watchful eye of mom to me at the front door. Then after having a bathroom break she was laying next to me and she used her front paw to indicate she was wanting something. So then she sat up then laid back down then all of a sudden she stood up unassisted and all by herself then took one step so mom came downstairs and helped her with getting on the couch.
