Yeah, definitely. I kind of doubt they have done one on a cat before, as they are so rare, but still just waiting for any further info at all.

yep all you can do , wait and see. Do you want to tell me the name of clinic? You do not have to ,I just thought I would do some looking on them and see if I can find more info for you. If you feel comfortable with them , no need to look further.  You did the right thing taking him! This was all out of your hands this happened so suddenly and you were scheduled for surgery Tuesday. No-one saw this coming obviously .

I'm glad he is getting the care he needs. After I responded about the pain earlier today I wondered if a bone broke but didn't say anything since I really don't know what I'm talking about. I'm so glad you listened to him and took him to the emergency clinic. I'm sure they'll do everything they can to keep the pain under control and advise you on the next steps.

I hope you find the answer soon and get this resolved.

Hugs,

Kerren

I don't have any info or advice to add- I just wanted to send strength and positive thoughts for the best possible outcome.

I also am just catching up!! What an ordeal you've been through these past few hours.

So glad Holly and Kerren were here to help support you through this scary time! They're the best!!

I'm so sorry you are having all this additional stress.

If they aren't confident with the surgery, is it possible they coukd send Leo home pretty doped up until the other Surgeon can maybe do it Monday I stead of Tuesday??

Sending positive energy and love and hugs

Thank you for all the positive thoughts, everyone!

Lasy night was pretty rough on the both of us, but I think we are doing better now. The glucose test revealed levels were the same between his neck and each of his back legs, which means blood still flowing to the bad leg (huge relief). They did some more X-rays and no broken bone, either. It's just that his entire hip socket is just...gone, at this point, so his femur bone is rubbing directly against his pelvis and causing him a great deal of pain for it. 😭 The other good news is that the doctor could not see any signs of soft tissue masses anywhere in his legs or lower torso, so another +1 for being cancer free post-amp!

The doctor gave me more Bup, this time 0.2 mL every 8 hours, to last until surgery day. He also gave me the option of hospitalizing him until if that doesn't help.

Leo seems to be doing much better with upped meds now, though, and is currently snuggled up with me in bed and purring like the little motor engine he is. Very much hoping now we stay this way until Tuesday, as I think we are both exhaused after 5 hours at an emergency clinic last night 😴

Btw, the name of this place is bluepearl, and while they were a bit on the expensive side, everyone there was absolutely fantastic and explained everything to me so well. The techs all raved at what a beautiful and sweet boy he was, even while being in a deep amount of pain and getting poked and prodded! 💛 We are still going through with surgery at the Animal Surgical Center in Flint, but man do I wish I felt as happy with them as I did at bluepearl.

Thanks again for your support and kind words, everyone ❤

That's a relief to know he didn't need emergency surgery. I hope the pain meds keep it in check until surgery day. Your Leo sounds like a real love and smart fellow.  He let you know that he was in pain and needed help. He obviously trusts you.

I hope you get some rest today. Although surgery is stressful please know it will be a relief to know that he's no longer in pain.

Hugs and cuddles for you and your kitty family.

Yeah👏🏻🎉 Leo Yeah Sara!!!!

I am so glad you posted, I have been  thinking about you guys and wondering how things went! Whew !what a relief !

ALL Fantastic News!!!!! Im so happy Leo Is comfortable again ! Pawsitive thoughts he is going to stay that way!

OMC! I had Blue Pearl website opened last night;) When I was looking for you guys! They sounded excellent and very qualified !!

You do know its your choice on where you go for Leo. Just throwing that out there .

Either one would be a great choice. The nice thing about the Blue Pearl is that they are 24-7. They do care credit there too fyi. Its a charge you can apply for to make payments if you dont already know about care credit. They are a lifesaver a lot of times!

Try resting when Leo does ok! This was a presurgery trial for you both. You did great !

Big pat on the back to you ,for being such a good Human Mom to him!!

HUGS and chin scratches to Leo and Zooey!!!😻😻

P.S

Kerren Mona's Mom absolutely knows what she is talking about fyi! Not sure where that came from on her post!

She has been here along time and very knowledgable😍 She in invaluable !!

Thank you, Kerren and Holly!

Leo is a special cat indeed, and I will be so relieved when he isn't hurting like this anymore.

I did consider asking about doing the surgery there, but I think I will just stick with the game plan in place. The Surgical Center in Flint wasn't the warmest, fuzzy-feeling place, but I like that the doctor knows his stuff. He's also honestly a lot older than the doctor I dealt with at Bluepearl, and I think there's a better chance he's done more intense surgeries like this one. I just wish it were closer!

I am also paying for this surgery through Care Credit, which is definitely a financial lifesaver.

Do whatever you feel is right, That is always the right choice! Follow your gut feelings!

I understand the warm and fuzzy and the experienced older part;)

Care Credit is a lifesaver , just make sure you pay it off within the agreed amount of time, so you do not get all the interest tacked back on ! Thats the only catch. We actually have 2 care credits cards🙄🤢 Very grateful we do!

Hope your boyfriend made it last night!

Keep us posted please.

Oh definitely, that interest rate is brutal! Shouldn't be a problem taking care of it in the given time though (:

Boyfriend actually ended up staying home last night because he's slightly narcoleptic and I'd didnt want him driving late at night, but he'll be here in probably a few hours 🙏

Glad to hear things are as good as they can be- and no emergency surgery!

I don't thing the warm and fuzzy thing is as important as confidence when you are dealing with a complicated problem.  Years ago quad pug Tani was very sick and my vet sent us to a specialist. My vet warned me that he was pretty cold with people but she felt he was the best qualified to get to the bottom of Tani's issues.  Sure enough- he was very formal with me but he knew his stuff and quickly figured out Tani's illness.

Thank you Karen, Sally, and your animal fams!

Leo had a bit of growliness again yesterday afternoon, but once I got him to lay down and just relax, things were pretty chill again and have been since. I am anxious for surgery tomorrow still, but very ready to get past that part and be on to healing stages. The support here has been wonderful, and I can't thank you all enough. Things look good for today being one more relaxing day at home until surgery day, but I'll let you guys know if anything changes (:

Try to limit his activity the best that you can! If you are not already doing that.  Bring his food and litter closer to him , that might help with less pain.

We will be here with you thru surgery and afterwards! You will be anxious, scared etc all normal!

Remember this is going to help Leo feel better and have a new quality of life!!

Your new Mantra is "Your Doing this for Leo not to him "

Will be thinking of you both and sending pawsitive energy for surgery tomorrow,

We will be watching for updates.
