Thank you all so much for your encouraging words! Rylee is doing SO GOOD!!! She woke up, ate breakfast, was mad that there wasn't more breakfast, ate her cheese (with meds in it), was mad that there wasn't more cheese, BUSTED OUT OF HER EX-PEN which we forgot to latch, dragged her daddy outside, peed, pooped, and hopped back to bed. icon_lol

I’m so excited about the poop! We hadn’t been expecting her to poop anytime soon because of the pain meds. She is on Rimadyl twice per day and Gabapentin three times per day for pain, as well as an antibiotic (Clavamox) twice per day. She had an infusion of Nocita (a local anesthetic) around the incision site, which will keep working for about 72 hours, so I’m expecting her to be a bit more uncomfortable tomorrow after that wears off. But her attitude couldn’t be better! She’s just such a happy girl and I’m so relieved to see that hasn’t changed.

I can’t thank y’all enough for being here! This site is a godsend! sp_hearticon2

She already pooped! Wow, she is way ahead of the cure! And eating on her own! All I can say is wow! She must really be happy that bum leg is gone, and she is home with her family.

I am Soooo Happy For All of You!

Yeeehaw! That's the hoppiest news I've heard all day, thanks for sharing. And I love love love that she was able to get Nocita, it's a terrific new pain drug.

She’s not really stubborn, but she definitely makes her opinions known. LOL! Right now, she’s giving me an earful because she wants more breakfast and she wants out of her ex-pen. 😂

Oh, so she talks back. That is the main thing I miss about Brownie.

I just love the lab breed. Black, yellow, and of course choc.  So loveable, but determined and protective.

I am so happy she is doing so well! She will continue to surprise you as this journey begins.

That talking is a great sign, that's when you know things are on the upswing. It's wonderful to know that her sparkle is returning!

The sparkle is definitely back! I was nervous when we brought her home on Friday because she was so quiet and reserved, which is not like her at all. But that was 100% the drugs. Saturday morning, she was back! ❤️

Hi Rylee's mom!  How is Rylee doing?  Out of all the posts, your story is closest to mine.  My dog is Jake.  He is 3 and has a soft tissue sarcoma on his left front elbow.  It's not possible to excise because of the location so Jake needs the leg removed.  His surgery is within a couple of weeks but I don't know the date yet.  It seems so many more dogs have osteosarcoma.  I am glad the soft tissue sarcoma isn't so apt to spread.

Please let me know how everything is going.  Is Rylee getting around ok?  How about going up/down stairs?  Can he run yet?  I am encouraged by how well Rylee did soon after surgery.  Did he have a front or back leg removed?  Did you start another post about Rylee or is this it?  My dog is a lab mix.  Take care and I hope things are greatsmiley9

So sorry, I’m just seeing this! Rylee is doing great! Her surgery was March 20, so she’s a month and two days post-op now. She had the same leg amputated as Jake (left front) and for the same reason (soft tissue sarcoma). She was walking again immediately after surgery. About two weeks later, the stitches were removed and the vet said she had no restrictions! She’s been doing stairs, playing fetch, etc. I’m so happy with her progress! Good luck with Jake and please let us know how it goes for him!
