Translated from Greek to English as follows:

I'm from Greece, so my English is not very good, I'll try my best!

I have a Neopolitan Mastiff 3 years old 86 kg! A month ago he woke up in pain and his back leg was getting bigger every hour. We took him to his orthopedic clinic. He told us that he probably has cancer, took blood to do tests, took several cytological samples and told us to go to an x-ray specialist.

The bloods came back fine, our cytology sample only saw blood. We do the x-ray and biopsy and cytological samples again. Our CT scan saw a large mass, a few small masses in his leg, and a small one in his lung. Our biopsy and CT scan again showed only blood.

It's been almost a month, we've been to so many doctors, no one has seen anything like this. On Monday we went to the oncologist again, he did the tests again, took samples again from all the places where he has masses and we are waiting for the result again.

He tells us if he was a smaller dog he would amputate the leg but with his size it is impossible to fix so I googled and found your beautiful page and need your opinion!

Hi and welcome! What is your dog's name?

I'm sorry you are dealing with this cancer. It's good that you did a CT scan. It sounds like even though the met is present, your oncologist would still amputate, which is fine. Many will go ahead with surgery despite a lung met because they can stay stable for a long time when caught early enough with a CT scan.

I'm not sure what you mean about the other small masses in his leg, and a large mass is there too? It sounds like you are waiting to find out what kind of cancer?

The best veterinary surgeons in the world have told us that size should not limit a dog as a candidate for amputation surgery, if the dog is otherwise healthy. If you are able to get another opinion by an orthopedic veterinary surgeon specialist, that is what I would do next. Getting a second opinion can help you decide.

We see many dogs here with similar weights too fine on three legs. See Jessee's story, and our Size and Age Matters Forum, and these Tripawds blog posts about giant breed dogs. Amputation recovery can be longer and a little harder but if you have help, it shouldn't be too difficult. Most dogs are back on their feet in a few weeks.

I hope this helps and that you can read the Google translation!

Γεια και καλώς ήρθες! Ποιο είναι το όνομα του σκύλου σας;

Δεν είμαι σίγουρος τι εννοείς για τις άλλες μικρές μάζες στο πόδι του, και υπάρχει και μεγάλη μάζα; Ακούγεται σαν να περιμένετε να μάθετε τι είδους καρκίνος;

I love the name Ziggy!

If you wrote in English, you have excellent writing skills! No worries there. Let me know if it's easier to translate for you.

Oh waiting is so hard. I hope you get to hear back soon.

Posting photos is like this:

Upload pics to a photo sharing site like imgur.com or your own Tripawds blog (https://tripawd...../supporter). Your pictures and video have to be hosted somewhere other than in the forums, which do not host images.

Once the photo is uploaded somewhere, right click and copy the Image URL or just copy the image if you’re on a phone

Return to this Tripawds Forum post and paste the image URL (or the image itself) in your post. It should automatically appear.

If you’d like help figuring out the process let me know! You can private message me with the envelope icon to the top right of my response, or send an email with the photos.

Hello ! I think all the doctors told about cancer because of the tc scan resolts and because of the leg . You can touch on his leg inside a big mass about 17*14 cm big . Of course we have and the results of his tc with his nodule in the lung that we must see what is this ...

Ah yeah that makes sense why they suspected the cancer. Let us know what they identify as the mass. We are hoping for more good news and and easy fix.
