I got the call yesterday, the biopsy showed a grade three aggressive fibrosarcoma. Surgeon gives her 1-2 months, chemo might extend it a couple more months, and radiation might give her a year. I'm leaning toward palliative care and giving her the best love and affection for however long we have. But I'm still struggling with being okay with everything. I know there are lots of animals who outlived their prognosis by months and years, but are there any specifically with a grade 3 fibrosarcoma? It seems like that is one that spreads pretty quickly.

I am sorry to hear the pathology report! Did you discuss Vaccine-associated Sarcoma? I would be surprised if it is not vaccine related, you can file for some reimbursement and at least get it recorded. Not that it changes the diagnosis or makes it right. Not any easier or changes the outcome, but it can help ease the financial aspect. But know that by accepting any reimbursement, you are signing off their liability. We all know these costs too well - we do what we have to do in any manner.

I'm sorry the vet gave you such a grim prognosis but as Sally always says here there is no timestamp on Razzle's kitty butt! Yes, there are statistics and guidelines NUMBERS, educated guesses, but that's all they are. Lots of animals hop on past those numbers.

PLEASE do not let that C rob you of any time you have with Razzle. You took the painful tumor off, and you see she is back to herself already never second guess yourself you made the right choice! You chose her quality of life, and she is with you now out of excruciating pain.

As far as what to do or not to do radiation or chemo only you know what is best for Razzle and yourself. It sounds like you already know listen to your gut instinct; it will always guide you on the right path. There is no right or wrong decision; we support you either way.

I will post some links for you on some success story we have had many VAS kitties join. These are the ones that come to mind.

The numbers and time stamps they place usually depends on the grade and the margins they get or do not get. Live each day to the fullest and do your damnedest NOT to let that C rule you! It took the leg, stop it from robbing your precious time together. Razzle doesn't know those numbers, and we are not telling her, and either are you:)

Well said Holly! Ditto!

I saw your blog but hadn't  responded  yet, so I'm  really glad you posted over here.

Thankfully  Razz is showing  you she is feeling great and could care less about the gloom and doom that Vet imparted to you.

As Hilly said, the most important thing is to make every day the best day ever.  Animals  don't  count days on calendars.  Could care less.  But they do put emphasis  on being spoiled and getting the best treats and getting ear scratchers non stop!

One of my favorite  "statistics don't  mean squat around here" stories is Pug Maggie (a dog).  She was "told" she only had months.  Maggie didn't listen.  She exited her earth clothes FOUR YEARS later!!

Do check jnto ot it's vaccine  related.   That opens the door for more possible options if you want to pursue.

Love Razzle's avatar.   We must see more of this SuperStar!!

Hugs

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

Oh wow I'm sorry about the report. Dang! It stinks to get that kind of news. But I'm going to echo what others have said: nobody can predict the future. Cat, dog, human, none of us know how long we have with or without cancer. All we can do is make every day count.

Get educated on your treatment options, investigate the vaccine connection possibility, and you can feel a little better that whatever path you take to treat this, you know you are making it with an educated mind and loving heart.

Let us know what you decide to do OK? And remember, there are no right or wrong choices here.

3-paws up and Thank you to Holly and Sally for being so helpful with links and advice!
