I have a three legged rottie who weighs 74lbs 2 months ago she had her right front leg amputated due to cancer. She did great but she was to rough and ended up hurting her discs in her back. Now her left back leg doesn't work and the right back leg has little use. The vet said that she would need 8 weeks of rest and has her on gabapentin vetlog and tramdol.  The vet did say that after 8 weeks she could be paralyzed in the back and may never use her back legs again. She cannot get up without a full body harness. We had a second opinion and had no cancer elsewhere they took xrays of her full body as well as ultrasounds of her heart and lungs, all was clear. Now however I cannot left her on a continuous bases and I was trying to find a wheelchair that is best for her. a wheelchair that is best for a three legged dog with only one good front leg and one  back leg?? Also she is in horrible pain as you pick her up but once shes up she is ok.

Hi Nakia, thanks for joining. I'm sorry your pup is having difficulties. Have you taken her to see a rehabilitation therapy vet? I would definitely want to do that, rehab vets can do many things that conventional ones cannot like acupuncture and massage therapy. Here are some links to information that will help.

I hope you don't mind but I moved your post here. Since it's about and getting around I though more people would be able to help you with ideas. Thanks again for joining, your future posts wn't need approval and appear automatically.

Sending the very, very, best wishes to you and your beloved Rottie for a full recovery! Wow! What a whammy to be hit with!!As distressing as this is, it is good that this is not caused by the worse case scenario...that horrible piece of crap disease.

I sincerely hope that with rest, meds and some of the therapies Jerry recommended, as well as wheelchair help, will greatly improve your beloved dog's situation.

Keep us posted. Would love ro see pics of this feisty fella'!

Hugs to all!

I would contact Eddie's Wheels.  They rent and sell carts in MANY configurations including walkers for dogs who can't stand unaided.  It will take a week or two to get a custom cart made but they'll also look at what stock they've got based on your measurements.  Most people don't need a walker for more than a month or two so they mostly rent those.  They also have some amazing adaptive carts with counterweights and adjustable axles.
