Hi.
Junior is already 3 and a half months since the amputation of his right foreleg. He has developed an elbow hygroma that is being treated and has his physiotherapies once a week.
However, on two occasions something has happened that has me very worried: Junior is walking and suddenly his paw fails and he falls. He rejoins easily, but this situation worries me.
Any advice? Should I worry or is it normal?crying

Glad to hear the adoravle Junior has been doing well, with the exception of this bump in the road.

Does his paw "knuckle", or turn under?  Is it possible to get a video to show your Vet.  And it's definitely not a "collapse" thats comkng from the shoulder, right? (If that makes sense.)

Any soreness? Range of motion seem okay when "manipulating"?   Sometimes overdping it could cause joint wear, or even undiscovered arthritis.  Soubt it's  anything serious at all!

Yeah, I wouldd have a Rehab Specialist or an  Orthoo Specialist check him out. They can identify the cause and put Junior on a treatment plan and make sure it doesn't get any worse.

Others will chime in.

Give Junior a big smooch for us and update when you can.

First off congrats on reaching the three month ampuversary! Yay Junior!

I think I know what you are trying to describe. When he walks, the front carpal joint (wrist) buckles and his paw curls under, right? OK if I'm correct....this is a common situation with front-leg Tripawds, but it's not good and it's definitely something that should be addressed as soon as possible to avoid joint stress.

Domino had a similar situation a while back. See his mom's post, "A Setback for Domino". Do check out all of the posts about Domino in Hopping Around, his challenges are quite common to front-leg Tripawds.

Tell us more about what Junior's day is like. How far does he walk? How much running and playing does he do? And is t he leg swollen at all? Oftentimes when this happens, a Tripawd is getting too much of the wrong kind of activity. Have you talked to the physio therapist about it?
