...success!

Yay! smile

Thanks for the feedback, and tips for making the harness work on rear tripawds. Glad you got it working, and thanks for starting this topic.

The first Photo shows the strap I had sewed on to replace the original much smaller rear handle that came with the harness. The original handle is shown in the photo to give an idea of the difference. The strap I used came from an old cheap harness that I had laying around which amounted to not much more than a canvas bag. I have done this with two rear sections of the harness and both are holding up very well. I have just recently noticed another tear though in the rear section of the harness forming where the front-rear connecting strap is sewn to the rear section of the harness. It looks like I will need to remove some more old strapping from my handy canvas bag, get some braided fishing line and do some more reinforcing. The second photo shows this tear.

For anybody that read my review on this harness regarding the protruding metal shaft used on the prototype version that I'm using, please note that my remedy for this was to use some braided fishing line as thread and to sew both ends of the sleeve, which house the shaft, tightly shut. This seems to have worked. The metal shaft has not left anymore cuts or abrasions on Fortis's belly. The shaft can't be removed but I don't see this as a problem.

I also have a photo of Fortis wearing his float coat connected to the rear portion of the harness thus giving him pelvic support while entering shallow water after a swim. If anyone is interested in seeing it just let me know.

I'd like to see it Brett; I think Ruff Wear should see it too, this is a product in the making! I'll send them a link to this discussion if you post it here. Thanks.

Here's the photo of Fortis wearing the rear section of the Help em Up harness connected to the Ruff Wear float coat . I took Fortis to Town lake yesterday afternoon and he frolicked in the river for two hours straight. Prior to having the float coat , 30 minutes was about it without taking a long break. He has managed to not only keep his weight down but actually shed a few pounds. This is a big plus for an amputee. The swimming is really helping not only with his weight and strength, but his overall attitude has improved as well! smile
