We lost our Tripawd Brinkley 3 years ago due to cancer.  He was an awesome dog and fight his cancer for five years.  We now have another Tripawd but he lost his leg due to mistreatment.  He is a Great Pyrenees/border collie and because he came from a rescue group and was never raised in a home…will not do stairs.  He has been with us for almost three years and is only four, but he cannot or will not attempt stairs.  It means no family room or bedrooms.  One downstairs and other upstairs.  It took this long to get him to be brave about almost anything, I need help in how to teach a very shy afraid 75 pound Tripawd to do stairs.  I so wanted to help another Tripawd after losing Brinkley but did not expect this as Brinkley was not afraid of anything!  Thanks for “listening”.  Jackie

Jackie it's nice to see you again! That is so nice of you to adopt your new Tripawd. What's his name? And what leg did he lose? If he is a rear-leg amputee, it's important to remember that rear leggers have a ruffer time going upstairs than down. Dogs carry most of their propulsion in the rear and when they lose 1/2 it's a ton of work. Have you tried helping him by having his wear a Ruffwear Webmaster or Flagline harness ? And bribing with treats?

Also, what kind of stairs do you have? Are they slippery? Open in the back? I know that our rear-leg Tripawd Wyatt was terrified of open back staircases for a few years. It finally clicked with him after a while. Your pup will get there too!

Can't wait to hear more about him.
