My toy poodle is 14 and will be 15 in June. She recently slipped on our wood floor when we were gone and couldnt get up. She is missing her front leg shoulder and all. Her other front leg was out to the side and she had obviously been struggling to get up for a while. We were gone a total of an hour and a half. She had blood blisters on her back knee and front elbow. She now has a hard tome keeping the front leg in, like something was stretched out. X-rays showed nothing. She is not in pain. Vet said maybe a stretched nerve which will take time to heal. Hopefully she is right. In the mean time I am wondering if there is anything I could buy that would somehow help her keep that front leg in?

Welcome, please consider registering to take full advantage of the resources this site has to offer and your forum posts will not require moderation.

We highly recommend consulting with a Certified Rehab Veterinary Therapist (CCRT or CCRP ) for a proper evaluation. There are orthopedic braces and prosthetics that may help, but they require planning, fitting and lots of rehab work. You might also consider passive strengthening exercises, massage, acupuncture and/or hydrotherapy like we describe in Loving Life On Three Legs, now available in the Tripawds e-books library.

Best wishes, please keep us posted.
