I have an 8 year old 80 lb girl who had a rear leg amputated due to cancer about 3 months ago.  She is doing remarkably well, with a few glitches.  My floors are all hardwood, upon which I have spread mats and runners.  However, there are still bare wood spots where my pup has trouble (she is not one to want to stay on a prescribed path.  When on slippery floors, her legs dont splay out, which appears common among tripawds,  but she does alot of leg rotation and has problems navigating.

After trying out other solutions, I finally put on a set of Dr. Buzby's Toe Grips .  Not only is the company wonderful (i.e. my dog fell between 2 sizes, so they suggested the size and, just in case, sent me a half a set of the next size).  They were a bit challenging to put on the first couple nails, but my daughter and I got the hang of it quickly. We used lots of dog treats to get the job done.

It immediately made a huge difference while Pebbles was navigating in the house.  She was much more stable and no longer rotated her existing legs.  Miraculous!  Though it was recommended that I super glue the grips on (for tripawds).  I havent done that yet but will do so if the grips start coming off.

Since Pebbles had her leg amputated, I have tried multiple products to make her life easier.  I believe Dr. Buzby's Toe Grips will prove to be one of the top products I have purchased.

Yes!  I love these too.  My vet helped us pick the right size and she reccomend  super glue. We did use the glue and I felt it made a big difference.  They do eventually fall off with the glue but they stay on better.  These were Especially great for visits to the vet school.  Thier floor was  very smooth and tough to walk on ever for 4 legged seniors.   I would put the grippers on then just add a dot of the glue at the top and bottom of the gripper.  Man I miss those little purple toes.

That's really good to hear! I love that your vet was on it!

Thanks for sharing. We are about to apply some to Wyatt Ray 's paws today, he has some holiday visiting to do this week and we want to keep him from sliding on everyone's hardwood floors. We will report back on how it workd for us.

Update on Pebbles' toe grips:

It's been about 3 weeks since we first tried the Dr. Buzby's Toe Grips.  I did NOT super glue them and we've lost a couple so I will be gluing them next time.

Even without 2 toe grips, she is doing beautifully. Her confidence inside the house has just blossomed.  She is back to stealing pens and my eyeglasses off the table so I have to chase her (yep, I know - spoiled dog), is able to turn in a much tighter radius and her feet are no longer randomly rotating.  We LOVE these things.

Brownies vet glued his toe grips on and they lasted over two months. We have an appointment tomorrow and we are going to get them applied again. My vet told me if you see them fall off, keep them and we will apply them again at no cost. I notice a big difference when Brownie has them on.

My Beautiful Beloved Brownie was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma on February 26, 2019.  With all odds against him he lived an additional one year and eight days with amputation, love, and prayer.  I was honored to be his mom, and I have never been so proud!  He will live forever in my Heart!

That's terrific Nancy! I'm so glad they worked out. How does Brownie do when the vet handles his feet?

I love that your vet is knowledgable about them.

Brownies Hollostic vet does it and he is fine with her. We are in a room that has rugs everywhere and we just all sit on the floor. While I pet Brownie she puts them on.  Now he fights his GP on a nail trim, but I'm not in the room.

When i was trimming brownie's nails about 10 years ago I cut a little short and there was a drop of blood. Brownie has not forgotten, because since that day he has not let me trim his nails

I love the tie grips and they did stay on for a long time. Even though they fell off they can be used again. Now Brownie is not running thru snow and jumping into lakes, but I think it is a great purchase.

Mitchell did really well for a while with the toe grips. He did much better on the floors and they helped him all the way around. As his body got worse he started dragging his paws and even glued we could not keep them on but he was a big dog and I imagine most will not have that problem.

I would definitely use them again if I had a dog that had a hard time on slippery floors. The difference was like night and day. Before the toe grips, his feet would slide out from under him on the kitchen floor. I made a video that we submitted to Dr. Buzby's site after the first fitting, here it is. Wow, this was almost exactly 1 year ago.
