Thank you, Bev! I'm hoping it's grown in by winter. It was awfully cold last year.

I hope Roane is doing well.

I'm pretty sure I didn't post that video on the Tripaws page.Β

Correct, we noticed it in the "Tripaws" group...

I have a feeling we're in for another cold winter in the north east. funny i was thinking the same thing about roane's fur growing back. She hates to be cold, she "hides" and wont go out! Lol! Come on fur! Riot and roane need to be warm fuzzy dogs! πŸ˜‰

Over all roane is doing well. She had a little set back and we decided to keep her on the carprofen/gabapentin indefinitely. Well worth it in my opinion if it means she's happy.

My sweet soulmate Roane was diagnosed with osteo in June of 2019. Had a rear leg amp on July 2nd & crossed the rainbow bridge to be with her sister Gypsy on the first day of Autumn Sept 23 2019.

Yep. I'm in the North east as well. I hope it's not as cold as last winter. We lucked out on snow, though. Ice has me worried this year. He'll never be able to handle ice well again.Β

Riot is on Rimadyl for the rest of his life. I feel the same. Whatever we have to do to keep them feeling pain free, we'll do.

Some people have used a ground corn mixture to help their tripawds with traction . I know they also make a pet friendly ice melt that does not hurt the paws. It is more expensive but I saved it for the real slick times for my quad pups and it did the job. I am in KY now, but I grew up in Rhode Island.Β

Might be a good idea to keep a towel by the door to wipe their feet off with when they come in. I have a nice fuzzy rug that is washable with a rubber bottom on it. I gave Bo and Mitch a good back massage while they stood on it and the softness of the rug soaked up the water.

I worry about the ice all the time here, more for me than for the pups, lol. My yard is grass so it takes a lot to get slick. It always seems to rain here first and then the cold kicks in and we get a glaze of ice over the sidewalks and cars smiley5 I couldn't believe my eyes last winter when it actually snowed without rain icon_lol

I hope everypawdy is doing well, sending hugs sp_hearticon2

Thank you. Yes, I have the dog safe pet melt. I bought a giant bag last year as it was a rough winter. Now I hopefully have plenty. They're predicting an extra cold and wet one. Please be wrong.

I have a nice, super absorbent towel I got as a gift. It works really well. I need to grab a spare before the ice comes.

I am so grateful that we don't deal with ice and snow during winter. You folks are tougher than we are!

We'll keep our paws crossed for an easy winter for everypawdy in the northern climates.

I hope wrong too.. mixed feelings about it yet. We have had an extremely hot summer, that everybody is complaining about except me, lol. I do miss the New England fall though.Β

When Huck had his surgery I looked and looked for throw rugs and finally found some on Amazon that are totally washable, rubberish backing so no slide, and easy to maintain. I used them for Huck, and then bought more for Mitchell when he started losing his back end. They did the job until Mitch couldn't hold himself up anymore.Β

I usually have a feeling when the cold weather comes.. I am a total blank now. I think that might be a good thing, lol. Fingers, toes, paws, and tails crossed for a mild winter sp_hearticon2

I didn't want to jinx anything, but I think Riot is pretty much back to being a normal eater ( for him). He had chemo last Thursday, and needed a dose of Entyce two days later when he refused all food. That got him going again. He hadn't needed a dose for almost three weeks before that. I don't have to do anything to get him to eat most days. I add some stew or chicken separately sometimes, as he's burning quite a few extra calories hopping around. He just wants his kibble plain, which is fine by me. Anything extra is to the side, in a different bowl. I do still have to heat up anything that isn't kibble, which I don't mind at all.

Thank you all. It's a huge relief to see him eating again. Particularly without any meds. I'm keeping a full one on standby, just in case.Β

He has PT again Saturday. We're still hoping he'll be able to do stairs again. Even if we have to use a harness to help, that's okay.
