Feel free to move this if not in the right place.  🙂

I found this online and it looked easy and good enough for us to eat too.

5-Ingredient Applesauce Dog Treats

Yield: depends on size of cookie cutters

Ingredients

  • 3 1/4 cups whole wheat flour
  • 3/4  cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350º F and line 1-2 baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Combine flour and cinnamon together in a large bowl and mix in applesauce, water and egg until fully incorporated.
  3. Knead mixture until a smooth dough forms, then turn it out onto a lightly floured surface.
  4. Roll dough out to 1/4-inch thickness and use your cookie cutter(s) to cut out treats.
  5. Transfer dog treats to lined baking sheets and bake for 40 minutes, or until golden brown.
  6. Remove and let cool completely before treating your pup.

hugs

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

Thinking you could use a different type of flour other than wheat..  I might try some of the coconut or whatever it is I have.  🙂

I make cookies for the girls and replace the wheat flour with brown rice flour. I don't have the recipe with me, but it has peanut butter as well. I know one of these days I'm going to come home and find the hub-a-dub chowing down on them! LOL!

Harmony became a Tripawd on 10/21/14 (MCT). She left us way too soon on 11/1/14.

Jasper would like that recipe too! 🙂 We would swap out almond butter (we're a Paleo house and don't do peanut butter).

Is it equal quantities when you swap out the flours? I think w/almond flour you use either less or more (I can't recall) but I haven't baked with brown rice flour.

And true - dog cookies like this are super yummy (not that I speak from experience)... 😉
