This is our first Valentine's Day without our dear Valentine. She would have been 11 years old today but we lost her in early June. Miss her everyday but really miss her today. She made it 2.5 years as a tripawd with Osteosarcoma, thank you everyone for your support along the way, always grateful.
So sorry you are missing your special Valentine 😔 It is so very hard to lose our furry family members, it is days like today for you that just throw you for a loop. It gets somewhat better and then something just sends you right back. It does get better. I lost my Ty almost 4 years ago and now, except every once in a while it hits, my thoughts of him make me smile instead of cry. Hugs, LORI, Ty and gang
TY GUY, Best Black Lab ever! Diagnosed and had amp in January, 2014. Kicked MRSA's butt. Earned his angel wings on April 16, 2014. Run Free my boy and don't forget a shoe. Ty is a proud member of the " April Angels". Ty sent us Daryl, a Tripawd rescue in Sept. of 2016. Daryl is 5 +or -. We are also Pawrents to Chandler, a Border Collie mix who is 15 and 1/2, Lucy, a Corgi who is 7, 2 minis, 2 horses, and a feisty cat named Zoe. Zoe had a non skeletal Osteosarcoma removed in July 2015. No Chemo, she was at least 16. She is going strong although she is now completely blind. She is now close to 20 and her hobbies are eating and sleeping in front of her personal heater.
I am so sorry you are missing sweet Valentine so much! It is so hard to lose them and each anniversary, holiday, milestone ... the first year is truly the hardest (not to say it gets easier because almost 4 years later, I still miss my sweet Shelby). But definitely getting through all those "firsts" is super hard.
But 2.5 years as a tripawd is amazing!!! What a wonderful gift you had of that time with her!
You will miss her forever for sure but she will be forever in your heart! Happy Birthday over the Bridge!
Hugs and love!
Alison with Spirit Shelby in her heart (and little Jasper too)
Shelby Lynne; Jack Russell/Shiba Inu mix. Proud member of the April Angels of 2014.
October 15, 2000 to April 8, 2014
Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife
VALENTINE WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN HERE
Valentine's story will ALWAYS inspire and encourage anyone starting this journey! Goodness k ows Valentine embraced everyday with joy and happiness and.nothing held that dog back!! 🙂
I'm sure a big pawty was thrown for her at the Bridge and she was given lots of Squirrels to chase (they stayed safely in the trees thiugh)! And just as she protected you here on earth, she's still protecting you from the Bridge.
Tha k you for posting today. Stay connected and, when you can, we woukd love ro hear more stories about this sweet hero!
Love
Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
Aww what a bittersweet day, my heart goes out to you. It takes a lot of time before you can smile at the good times instead of feel like you want to cry when you think about how much you miss your special pup.
Valentine was a real survivor, a true warrior! Two and a half years after diagnosis is amazing and inspirational! Please do feel free to send us her story for Tripawd Tuesday, we'd love to run it. Click on one of the Tripawd Tuesday stories and read to the end to find out how to submit hers.
