We scheduled "the appointment" for tomorrow at 2pm.

In addition to the issue outlined in my recent blog post, Roxy has started to refuse to eat again, even the "last chance" stuff that was working at her worst. She is not happy, and has mostly just been laying around, with barely enough energy to move. She has been making it clear that it's time.

We're spending the day together today and having some of her human friends drop by throughout the day.

I've already told some of you in chat or on facebook but thought I'd let everyone know.

Mica,

I know I am sorry doesn't help with what you are facing.  This is the hardest decision we have to face in this journey.  My heart breaks every time that I read someone making this part of the journey.  You are giving her the greatest gift in the world that you can give (and those don't help either I know).  But its true.  She has fought the greatest battle and won.  Cancer didn't win.  (at least that is how I try to look at it with Sassy).  I got enjoy more time with her and you with Roxy.

By the way I talked to Sassy the whole time that she was crossing.  She heard me.  I told her it would be ok to go and I made the promise never to let her suffer and I would miss her but she would always hold my heart.

Hugs to you & Roxy

Oh Mica, I am so sorry. Words are so inadequate. I wish I could say the magic thing that would ease the pain but of course I can't.  Because Roxy has been such a special and loved part of your life. My heart goes out to you and I'm sending thoughts of comfort to Roxy.

I'm sorry Mica, but in a way I am glad for you that Roxy has made it so clear.  Maggie gave me that gift as well.  It is a horrible, gut wrenching decision, but you make it out of love, and knowing Roxy is ready will give you peace as the days move on.

Nothing can take away the pain, it is the price we pay for loving unconditionally. Roxy has been a true Tripawd Warrior Princess and her journey will live on here and inspire others who are dealing with the challenges she faced.

Roxy will live on in your heart and so will always be by your side.

Sending strong, peaceful thoughts for a special day.

Mica-

My heart aches for you and I wish I could ease the pain, but know that all my thoughts and blessings are with Roxy and you during this difficult time. Hold her close and  talk about all the wonderful things you have done together and the love in her eyes will tell you just how much she loves you. Let her know about all the great friends she will meet when she crosses the Bridge and how wonderful she will feel being pain free and running on four legs.

Hugs to both of you.

I'm so sorry to hear this sad news, but how brave of Roxy to let you know it's her time.  She has been brave throughout this entire battle, and so have you.  We'll be thinking of you and your girl.

I'm so sorry Mica, this is so terribly hard to do but you have all of the love and support of this community behind you. I hope that thought eases the heartache.

Please tell Roxy that she is so loved by all of us, and will always be remembered. Both of you have been so courageous, your fight has touched us all.

Words do feel so empty at this time, but it's really all we have to offer you. Even though you aren't ready (we never are), Roxy is letting you know that she is. Thank you for honoring that and not making her endure for you.

When Dakota left me, I sat by his head and told him all the dogs to go find. I named every one that I could think of so he would know he wasn't alone. Unfortunately, he left before I ran out of names. Roxy will be met by so many, just as I'm sure Dakota was. And now she takes up a place of honor in your heart.

Even so, it's still awful. That part we also understand. Please let us help you if there is anything we can do. When you can, let us know how you are.

Shari

From abandoned puppy to Tripawd Warrior Dude, Dakota became one of the 2011 February Furballs due to STS. Our incredibly sweet friend lived with grace and dignity till he impulsively raced over the Bridge on 12-15-12.

Dakota's thoughtful and erudite blog is at http://shari.tr.....pawds.com/

Mica, more hugs and prayers and blessings to you and Roxy.  She has had such a world of love surrounding her, and I add my wishes that you will feel it surrounding you, too, from all your friends here.  Holding you in our hearts,

Liz and Roxie
