To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.  A time to be born and a time to die . . .

Today at approximately 11:15 a.m., Harley left this world for his eternal home.  He fought so hard, but the cancer was bigger than both of us and a cure was not in is future.  Harley was not a Tripawd, his amputation was canceled the morning of the scheduled surgery when 2 masses were found in his chest.  The Tripawd community welcomed us and have been an invaluable resource as well as support group for the past 8 months.  I miss my goofy golden.  He was and always will be the center of my universe.  Thanks for the memories boyfriend.

His crazy and often complicated history is at http://myharley.....pawds.com/

Harley is an 8 year old Golden Retriever. Amp surgery for an infiltrative lipoma canceled due to two masses in chest. A rescue, he found his forever home on 3/18/07 and left for his eternal home on 1/09/13. His story and medical history are at http://myharley.....pawds.com/

I am so sorry, Kathy, to hear about your beautiful boy. But he is free and happy now, and he is looking over you. May you find peace in your heart.

Right hind limb amputated 7/3/12 for OSA, started on alternating cycles of Carboplatin and Doxorubicin and oral Palladia. Single lung met 9/1. Met in the neck muscle removed 9/30. Large mass in sublumbar lymph node 10/2. Rescue chemo with ifosfamide 10/6. Mets to the rib and axillary lymph node 10/21. Started Leukeran and Pred 10/25. Wookie left this Earth for a far better place on 12/4/12. I miss you, Boo, you were my heart.

Oh, not sweet Harley.  Kathy, I am so sorry.  I just sent you a PM.  Hugs...

Lisa

Zeus was a Husky mix diagnosed with Osteosarcoma at age 11.  A visible lung met and suspicious spot on his liver meant a poor prognosis-six weeks was our vet's best guess. We decided to fight for our boy and his right front leg was amputated on 12/1/11. We did six rounds of chemo, changed his diet and spoiled him completely rotten. We were blessed with 10 great months after diagnosis. Against the odds, the lung met remained a single met and grew very little over those months. A wonderful furbaby with the most gentle spirit, he fought with a strength that we never imagined he possessed. We have no regrets...

Kathy,

Sweet Harley is playing at the bridge with all of his new friends — including Sammy and Sosa. But you will forever be in his heart, just as he will be in yours. You have been brave and loving mom to your golden babies.

As hard as the next days will be, I hope your memories of your goofy, darling Harley make you smile more than you cry. All of us here on this site mourn with you tonight. Hugs, my friend —

Beth, Spirit Smilin' Sammy (and Sosa) and MB Wiggly Wrigley

Smilin' Sammy, March 16, 2004 – Dec. 5, 2011
Golden retriever, diagnosed with osteosarcoma in September 2010 — right front leg amputated November 2010. He fought valiantly to stay with us; but a second diagnosis of osteosarcoma, this time in his left front leg, was more than our golden warrior could overcome. He loved his pack — and everyone else he met.

We loved him even more.
Thanks for the pennies, Sammy. They helped.

In your heart, where I belong.

Kathy, I'm so sorry to read this.

Harley may not have been a tripawd, but he was a warrior dude just the same, and I hope that he has been welcomed to that eternal home by so many of our companions who've gone before. I know how much you loved him and I know how hard it will be. If it becomes too quiet and too clean, please post here. There are so many who understand and whose broad shoulders you can lean on.

Shari

From abandoned puppy to Tripawd Warrior Dude, Dakota became one of the 2011 February Furballs due to STS. Our incredibly sweet friend lived with grace and dignity till he impulsively raced over the Bridge on 12-15-12.

Kathy, we are heartbroken, this is just such sad news, I know how much it hurts.

Harley fought so hard, and for eight months, you had your precious boy around to love. I know there just isn't enough time to be with our loved ones, but I hope that someday you can find peace knowing that you did all you could for him during his last months on this earth.

May Harley's memory go on to inspire others to live life despite all obstacles, to make the most of every day.

Harley, we will miss you. Watch over our Tripawd angels OK?

xoxo

I'm so sorry, Harley was dealt a tough hand but still lived his happy Golden Boy life without a care.
Tripawd or quadpawd, it doesn't matter, once you are here you are part of our family. And as family we feel your grief today. Harley will always be in your heart and so will always be by your side.

I'm so sorry to hear Harley has gone on to his next adventure.  He was a very brave boy who fought a tough battle.  Like others have already said, we never have enough time with our furbabies.  Sending healing thoughts to you.

Kathy, event though we have never met in person, I feel like I really know you, as we have shared so much over these past few months.  With our dogs sharing the same oncologist, we shared a common group of people who love them so much.  Harley will be missed.

Harley is a handsome Golden who had the most wonderful doggy Mom ever.  May you take comfort in knowing that you did everything humanly possible to keep him here on Earth with you and with all of us.  He must be running free now with your other Goldens and meeting new tripawd friends.

The Rainbow Bridge is a beautiful place and I'm sure we'll all be visiting there first when we get our chance.

You are in my thoughts.

Our Super Dog Hunter crossed over the Rainbow Bridge on a beautiful summer day in July, just 3 days shy of his 10th Birthday. He gave us everything since he was 8 weeks old.  Hunter was a 14 month warrior of OS.  We LOVE and MISS him every day.

So saddened to hear that Harley crossed the bridge today.  May his spirit look down upon you all and may his memory and the time you shared with him be a blessing to you all.

Thank you to everyone for your support over the past months and especially now.  As often as you read posts in this forum, you are never really prepared to post your loss.

Shari, I was thinking of you today and so understand the feeling when you posted about preparing Dakota's meals.  For the past few months I felt most of my day was in the kitchen either scrambling eggs in the morning, then doing those dishes, only to be back mid afternoon to begin browning turkey or veal, cooking vegetables etc and then doing those dishes.  As tired as I was on some days, I would have gladly continued if that would have helped.

And what so many have said, what brought us here in the first place (a limb amputation) is not what took them in the end.  Harley died with his "bad" leg looking good as new (after a 3rd debulking) and the masses in his chest which were thought to be metastasis from the leg or elsewhere, I will never know if they were primary lung tumors or where they might have originated from.  So many months of chasing cancer and never being able to get it.
