Scout - January 31, 2002 to November 8, 2011- We lost our Golden boy Scout yesterday to metastatic cancer in the lower spine. Scout was diagnosed with "an undifferentiated sarcoma" in his front left leg in December 2010, amputation surgery Jan 11, 2011. We opted not to put Scout through chemo, and instead chose a holistic approach to his treatment-- while ultimately unsuccessful, it gave us all hope (he was so healthy and happy--we truly thought he was cancer-free, so Saturday's sudden paralysis and Monday's MRI results were a total shock). It gave Scout nine healthy months-- the only medical issue Scout had this year was when he scarfed down a 14 oz bag of M&M's. It gives me enormous happiness to think that Scout was able to enjoy an extra nine months on Earth-- and, boy did he enjoy himself. He was healthy right up until the end and enjoyed his daily (3 mile) walks -- off leash, always in front-- he was our Scout, after all. Scout was my first dog, although I don't think of him as a dog-- he was a human in a dog's body. He had a human soul, my Scout. He wanted nothing to do with dogs-- he was an embarrassment at the dog park-- all he wanted to do was play with the humans (and eat poop-- his only bad habit). Scout, my heart is broken, I will miss you, I love you. Until we meet again, my love. Enjoy your wings my friend, no one deserves them more than you, you were beautiful.
Scout: January 31, 2002 to November 7, 2011
Scout's diagnosis was "poorly differentiated sarcoma"; amputation 1/11/2011. Scout enjoyed 9 fantastic years on 4 legs and 9 glorious months on 3 legs. If love alone could have saved you…
My condolences on the loss of your beautiful Scout. I'm glad you were able to enjoy those 9 months with him. It sounds like he had a great life.
You have your own personal angel now. I hope you can some day, sooner than you would think, remember him with more smiles than tears.

Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. I'm sorry you have reached the end of your earthy journey with Scout. Your decision making, love and caring gave him quality time with your family, and that is what is important. Although you can no longer physically touch him, he will always be in your heart.
He sounds like one of my pugs at the dog park- its all about people for her, other dogs are an annoyance.
I hope the good memories will bring peace and strength to you and your family in the coming days and weeks, and that someday thinking and talking about Scout brings more smiles than tears.

I am so sorry that Scout is no longer here with you on earth. It warms my heart that our fur kids are always wagging their tails until the very end, only to make us happy. Scout is free among all our fur kids on the other side of the bridge. We will some day have a wonderful day all playing together at the rainbow dog park...poop free!

Scout, the world will never be the same without you. We are so so sorry that you had to move on, because we know how sad this makes your family and everyone here.
You were a rock star Tripawd who made the most of life even after doctors found cancer in your lymph nodes....wow! Talk about beating the odds! You most definitely earned your wings sweet boy.
To Scout's family...please accept our deepest condolences. We are so sorry for your loss, he sounds like he was the pawfect dawg. Thank you for sharing his life and his courageous Tripawd journey with us. His story will go on to give hope to many.

Healing prayers for you in your time of loss. So glad that you had those 9 months with Scout. He does sound like a wonderful Dog. I know that you and Scout made the most of the time that he had left and he sure does deserve those wings!!! His memories will comfort you and he will bring you smiles when you think of him. Dogs are one of life's greatest blessings!!
We are very sorry to hear of your loss, and I feel certain that when Riley meets Scout that Cooper will be nearby if not right there with Riley! There is nothing that can help the hurt of the loss, but you do have some wonderful memories of his last 9 months with you, I know our last 9 months with Cooper are etched stronger in my mind than the rest of the time we had him because we went through so much together that last 9 months, our thoughts are with you and prayers of healing..

the monkeydogs only THINK they have invaded the tripawd state
Losing that once-in-a-lifetime companion is never easy, and when we're robbed by something like cancer it's just so much harder. It's not fair, and it's a horrible disease. Scout will have many tripawd angels waiting and wagging. One day my Dakota will cross that bridge, and Scout will be right there to greet him. I'm so sorry you had to lose him but so happy that you and he found each other.
Shari
From abandoned puppy to Tripawd Warrior Dude, Dakota became one of the 2011 February Furballs due to STS. Our incredibly sweet friend lived with grace and dignity till he impulsively raced over the Bridge on 12-15-12.
